Location: Elmhurst Hospital
Part-Time
Hours: Days (8 am - 4:30 pm); 40 hours per period (2 days one week and 3 days the other)

A Brief Overview:
The RN Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist (CNPS) is an expert clinician with advanced education and training. They are responsible for applying expert knowledge, advanced assessment skills, and experience to a specific patient population, across the system. The CNPS serves as an educator, a consultant, and as a clinical expert. Responsible for ensuring the use of evidence-based practices are applied to achieve optimal quality, cost effective, patient focused outcomes across the three spheres of impact (Patient Care, Nurses and Nursing, Organization and Systems). The CNPS interacts with nursing staff to foster an organizational culture of inquiry while mentoring nurses to implement practices based on the latest evidence.
What you will do:
Clinical Expertise
• Provides clinical nursing expertise in area of nursing specialty and has advanced nursing skills in area of specialty
• Assess and recommend education needs for role development through observation of direct care being delivered and feedback from staff, preceptors, and leadership.
• Provide staff support and guidance in the development and/or modification of a patient's plan of nursing care
• Identifies the professional practice needs of clinical unit staff by systematically and purposefully collecting and analyzing data to evaluate issues, trends and outcomes.
• Enhances process improvement by identifying improvement opportunities, leading quality initiatives, and implementing change
• Serves as a source of information on the latest evidence based, cost-effective, safe, clinical nursing practices and/or regulatory standards.
• Evaluates new evidence and research findings for the potential application to clinical practice.
• Identifies standard of practice using evidence-based information to achieve outcomes for nurse-sensitive indicators.
• Evaluates outcomes of nursing practice changes.
• Leads the integration, management, and evaluation of technology/products to promote safety, quality, efficiency, and optimal health outcomes.
• Partners in the development of evidence-based policies, procedures and protocols; creating and implementing a plan to ensure sustainable change at the clinical unit level.
• Active participation in Shared Decision-Making Councils.
Education
• Consults with Nursing Leadership, Clinical Nurse Educators, Department Based Educators and other system teams to establish annual competencies/skill days and other educational needs.
• Partners with peers and colleagues on the creation and implementation of programs and presentation such as just-in-time education, presentations, and practical skills in clinical and/or simulation setting utilizing evidence-based practice and adult learning theory.
• Develop and provide nursing education in a variety of venues and/or methods.
• Responds to the learning needs of the community and employs educational strategies to promote, maintain, and improve health and prevent illness and injury
• Assess and recommend education needs for role development
• Shares responsibility for developing, implementing, and evaluating learning and development programs and teaching methodologies to improve organizational outcomes
• Participates in the development, design, implementation, and evaluation of the Transition to Practice programs for nurses at all levels.
• Collaborates with academic nursing partners to support and promote integration of nursing students into the practice environment

• Serves as an influential leader in interprofessional learning, professional growth, and practice change throughout the organization. Uses effective strategies for changing clinician behavior to encourage adoption of evidence-base practices and innovations in care delivery

• Mentors and coaches clinical nurse/staff nurse educators to be able to advance in nursing education.
• Fosters a healthy work environment and builds effective teams via coaching and utilizing advanced communication skills.

• Mentors others in nursing evidence-based and research projects.
• Participates in the Professional Nursing Organization of choice to generate energy, contribute to the flow and communication of new nursing knowledge, and to advocate for the needs of nurses and society.

• Creates an accountable nursing care environment that stimulates continuous self-learning, reflective practice, and sense of ownership
• Advocates for nurses to practice to the full extent of their role in the delivery of health care
What you will need:
Masters Degree Nursing Required
Doctorate Nursing Preferred
5+ Years Clinical experience in a medical center, hospital environment or academic setting required
Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois required
BLS -American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support required
Neonatal Resuscitation - American Heart Association (AHA) required
Current nursing specialty certification; if no specialty nursing certification, certification required within one year of assuming role.

A Brief Overview:

What you will do:
Reviews patient chart information prior to patient visit in order to schedule necessary diagnostic and/or laboratory tests. Ensures same are completed prior to appointment.
Escorts patients to examination rooms, obtains vital signs and other patient data, and makes patient comfortable while waiting for physician. Completes patient history and physical examination forms.
Assists physician during patient examinations and/or procedures by holding patient extremities, monitoring patient's condition, providing instruments as requested, completing necessary forms with information provided by physician, and the like.
Prepares specimens for routine urine and blood tests, conducts selected tests according to established procedures, completes reports with results, forwards same to physician, and ensures inclusion in patient medical record.

Performs procedures such as injections, venipuncture, inserting catheters, wound care, etc.

Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs.

A Brief Overview:
The RN Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist (CNPS) is an expert clinician with advanced education and training. Registered Nurse - Infusion Clinic
Full Time | 40 hours/week
Hours: Monday-Friday, option to work 8 or 10 hour shifts between (7 am to 5:30 pm for 10 hour shifts) and (flexible between 7am - 3:30pm, 8am - 4:30pm or 8:30am - 5pm for 8 hour shifts , based on scheduling needs). Weekend and holiday shifts rotate amongst staff.
What you will do:
The Staff Nurse will deliver safe and compassionate nursing care for all patient populations by planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care.
The Staff Nurse will collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other members of the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.

What you will need:
License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required

What you will do:
Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes. Evaluates patient's progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.
Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers.
Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient's wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs. Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.
Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs. Assesses patient's cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly. Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate. Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
Interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers as colleagues. Shares knowledge, provides feedback and contributes to an environment supportive of clinical education. Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.
Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support
Provide assistance to technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, and administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.
Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research. Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self-directed learning activities. Supports staff in using research and providing evidence-based care
If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients. Monitors effectiveness of wound/ostomy treatment plans and other aspects of wound/ostomy/skin care
Complies with HIPAA regulations.
Assist in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed

RN SANE Program - Per Diem
Location: Chicago, IL
Part-time (Per Diem)
Hours: On Call (Must give 48 hours per month and must be able to respond within an hour of being called.)

A Brief Overview:
The SANE cares for sexual assault Adult/Adolescent survivors while independently performing the medical forensic exams, head to toe nursing assessments, detailed anogenital examination, forensic specimen collection with supportive documentation, and forensic photographic documentation. The SANE must provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department or hospitalized on an inpatient unit. They will work closely with Emergency Room Physicians, survivor advocates, law enforcement, criminal justice officials and civil attorneys.
This is a per diem position with expectation for commitment to be on call for 48 hours a month and must be able to respond within an hour of being called.
What you will do:
Performs duties of SANE with knowledge of forensic collection, STIs, medication and vicarious trauma towards the survivor.
Attends SANE meetings for peer/chart review and information dissemination to ensure compliance and standards according to the Professional Forensic Scopes and Standard Practices, SASETA, and the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
Works collaboratively with the Swedish Hospital Emergency Department, Violence Prevention Program, Illinois State and Chicago Police Departments, Resilience, and the Illinois SANE Coordinator.
Attends courtroom proceedings related to Swedish Hospital sexual assault cases.
What you will need:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Successful completion and certification of AA SANE training through the Office of the Illinois Attorney General or certification is approved by the Office of the Illinois Attorney General SANE Coordinator.
Prior experience in forensic nursing preferred.
Pass computer literacy for Epic or attend training after hire.
