The North America team is currently looking for a Machine Operator on 2nd shift to join our Taylorville, IL facility. The Machine Operator is responsible for operating extrusion equipment to produce plastic parts along with downline packaging. The Operator must follow detailed instructions to ensure the accuracy of each product. They must inspect parts for any defects or inconsistencies and make adjustments as needed. The Operator must also monitor the machines to ensure they are running smoothly and efficiently. They must have a good understanding of the equipment and be able to troubleshoot any issues that arise. The Operator must be able to read and understand technical documents, follow safety guidelines, and maintain accurate records of production. Your Impact Set-up, adjust, program, calibrate and perform preventative maintenance on extrusion equipment. Produce material to specification, from job order and document production data at a level of output that minimizes production delays. Utilize quality checks to ensure all systems are set for correct operational sequencing and to meet product standards. Ability to read, write and use basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Ability to operate overhead crane and sit-down forklift. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow precise instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers and across departments and shifts. Your Compensation and Benefits Expected total compensation for this role will be $21.80 to $26.97 per hour + $3 shift differential depending upon job related knowledge, experience, and skills. The Production Operator is responsible for supporting all areas of production involved with packaging dry food products according to customer and company specifications, packing, trucking, stacking, counting, wrapping, weighing, cleaning, and operating machinery on a rotating basis. Essential Functions: Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time. Implement applicable data collection methods to assure Process Quality results are as accurate and meaningful as possible. Report all necessary production information and data related to inventory, KPI's, SPC, Run Strategy and any other necessary information when required. Ensure that all work completed in the processing area, meets all requirements of Process and Compliance Quality, Food Safety Programs and HSE. Take preventive action where needed to protect any product in the facility from contamination Manage all bag dump/processing functions as it relates to producing a finished product. Ensure quality checks on ingredients used in the processing of the finished product. Provide training to employees as changes or new methods arise. Participate actively in the preventive maintenance system. Perform other necessary tasks as directed by management. Operates packaging equipment (baggers, metal detector, check weigher, etc.) and process control systems. Performs regularly scheduled sanitation tasks. Assist with rail car / bulk unloading tasks. The Extruder Operator will be a multi-skilled packing associate who is responsible for achieving maximum efficiency of our packing lines whilst ensuring the highest safety and quality standards are maintained. The extruder operator will also play a pivotal role in identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects within the packaging hall. Key Responsibilities This role will be an entry level role into the Extrusion/Processing role and will develop capability to perform the following responsibilities: Perform all of the following duties on a rotational basis in the processing area of the plant. This includes operating all systems, performing all quality checks, maintaining conformance reports and system logs, and troubleshooting all aspects of each system : Batching - schedule, batch and assure accurate dispersion of the correct commodities, control hardstock grinding and amounts into each recipe that is delivered to the mixed meal system. Extrusion - extrude mixed meal and dry kibbles that meet all quality specifications and optimize plant capacity. Coating - coat and blend kibbles with tallow and digest into the finished product according to recipe requirements; coordinate with packaging and extrusion to optimize product stream and bunker inventory levels. Manage and set strategy for the five processing systems to ensure meeting or exceeding production schedule in the most efficient manner possible. Maintain a safe and clean work environment to promote associate safety and product integrity. Ability to actively address food safety and quality concerns. Troubleshoot processing systems that are not performing properly and take corrective action to ensure product quality while minimizing unnecessary downtime.
