    The Machine Technician 1 is responsible for manufacturing product by operating and maintaining equipment and processes that provide optimum customer service. Technicians in this category: Will have a minimum of 1 year experience at MT or prior relative job experience. Will be cross-trained on all equipment in one “Hot Form” production line. Will be responsible for knowing and implementing all area specific compliance issues, including quality, environmental, safety and MT/plant policies. Will contribute to team efforts by participating in continuous improvement projects as required. Will also assist with training coworkers as necessary. Also responsible for enhancing the department's productivity and quality and assisting Supervisor or Team Lead as required. Duties and Responsibilities Produce product by operating all equipment in the designated area. Set up, adjust and troubleshoot equipment, including automated operations, controls, and sensors. Review programs on numerical and PLC equipment and adjust offsets. Communicate with Supervisor, Team Lead and Maintenance Techs about required ladder logic and PLC troubleshooting. Perform preventative maintenance responsibilities. Participate in updates of preventative maintenance schedules. Complete routine equipment and product inspections and complete required documentation. Investigate and efficiently assist with diagnosis and resolution of equipment and quality problems, production delays or stoppages. Participate in performing root cause analysis and assist with implementing the best solution. Troubleshoot and perform minor equipment repairs. Provide feedback to Maintenance and Supervisor/Team Lead as needed. Learn and complete corrective actions as directed. Inform Supervisor/Team Lead or Department Manager about processes or equipment requiring attention. Complete documentation as required or requested. Recommend and participate in completion of continuous improvement projects specifically designed to improve processes, productivity and quality, especially those related to corrective actions. Complete other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor, including working other shifts as necessary. Adhere to all safety requirements in the work area Practice 6S Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills Able to interpret technical data, including drawings and schematics, accurately. Must be proficient in the use of common inspection and test equipment. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills required. Education and Experience Requirements High School or GED diploma required plus Technical Certification in a Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or related program or equivalent combination of education and experience in maintenance, mechanical, or technical field. Maintain files and records per requirements. Take appropriate corrective action for continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction. Know and practice the 5S's for industrial housekeeping. Operate tools, presses and equipment properly and adhere to all safety requirements in the work area. Able to react to change effectively and handle other tasks as assigned. Auditing Conduct recon tools, accessories packaging, and accessories manufacturing audits daily utilizing print and process control plan specifications. Disassemble and analyze product during the performance of a teardown audit. Perform Process Control Plan audits when required. Investigate and use SPC tools for problem solving failures and rejects. Maintain and complete proper records and documentation. Take appropriate corrective action for continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction including NCR, SCAR, and CAR databases for non-conforming product. Use gauges and other equipment to measure tolerances and dimensions of parts per specifications. Know and practice the 5S's for industrial housekeeping. Operate tools, and equipment properly and adhere to all safety requirements in the work area. Able to react to change effectively and handle other tasks as assigned. Battery Warranty Analysis Conduct warranty analysis on batteries returned from Authorized Service Centers and Authorized Distributors per the Battery Return Policies currently in place. Maintain and complete proper records and documentation. Prepare batteries for recycling once they have been evaluated. Know and practice the 5S's for industrial housekeeping. Able to react to change effectively and handle other tasks as assigned. Education/ Requires an education equivalent to high school diploma or GED. Technical certification is preferred Experience Quality assurance or quality control experience preferred. Experience reading prints and using gages required. Vendor/supplier relations experience helpful. Knowledge Required Computer experience and experience using SPC techniques helpful. Excellent organizational skills required.
