Key Responsibilities

Must-Have Qualifications
Education:
- 60 college credits or higher, OR one of the following:
- A passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment (65% or higher on the Instructional Support test and 70% or higher on the Knowledge and Application test)
- A passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment (combined score of 460 or above)
Language & Authorization:
- Professional proficiency in English.

Experience:
- Prior experience working with children in a structured setting is an asset.
Physical Requirements:

Job Description
Tutor: will arrange for meeting times, obtain information about the relevant course, and tutor the tutee. Tutors will report progress of tutees to the hiring supervisor, and also report to the department tutor coordinator. 1-6 hours/week
Grader: work with an instructor of a course, grade to given rubrics, collect and return assignments as designated by instructor, and possibly work with an electronic grading system. A Grader will maintain frequent contact with the instructor and provide feedback regarding student progress.
Graders will report progress to the hiring supervisor, and also report to the department tutor coordinator. 3-6 hours/week/course section
Supplemental Instructor (SI): work with the instructor, hold review/help sessions, and may be asked to attend classes or assist in lab sessions. Depending on the course, an SI may also be asked to work with Moodle. SIs will report progress to the hiring supervisor, and also report to the department tutor coordinator. 1-6 hours/week

Purpose of the Position
This long-term substitute will teach 5th-8th Religion and 5th-8th Social Studies, providing rigorous, engaging instruction aligned to the school and Archdiocesan curriculum. This position fulfills the full responsibilities of a classroom teacher for the duration of the assignment.
Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. All employees must conduct themselves in a manner consistent with Catholic teaching and the mission of the Church. This position does
not
require the candidate to be Catholic, but all employees are expected to respect Catholic doctrine and practices. Teachers will be responsible for leading daily prayer, implementing the Religion curriculum (including PCYI content), and supervising students during school Mass.
General Responsibilities
Provide instruction in all assigned subjects following the school's curriculum, standards, and mission
Design and deliver daily lessons, assessments, and learning experiences for diverse learners
Maintain a safe, predictable classroom environment with clear behavior expectations
Support the social, emotional, and spiritual development of middle school scholars
Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians
Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student progress
Lead daily prayer and supervise at Mass
Work collaboratively with colleagues, administration, and support staff
Participate in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities
Uphold student confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity
Carry out additional duties as assigned to support school operations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Education or related field
Teaching license preferred (Minnesota or transferable)
Successful completion of background check
Experience working with middle school students
Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic school mission and philosophy
Effective classroom management and age-appropriate instructional skills
Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
Proficiency with instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite
