Summer Interns work as part of a multi-discipline team performing mechanical engineering design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects. You will perform assignments under the direct supervision of one or more licensed mechanical engineers and concentrate on specific design or technical documentation tasks that contribute to overall projects. Assignments will include performing design calculations, preparing reports, and producing deliverable drawing sets including site plans, HVAC plans, piping plans, controls diagrams, details, schematics, and schedules.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assists to design and specify project-appropriate mechanical engineering requirements.
Coordinates designs with the work of Mechanical Designers.
Performs Revit modeling and detailing
Assists to conduct site investigations and observations.
Assists to prepare narratives, reports, hand and computer calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints.
Assists to perform cross-discipline discussions and coordination.
Additional assignments may include attending client and internal meetings, assisting with performing construction contract administration, and assisting with marketing/business development activities.
Requirements
Must be working towards graduation of ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
Knowledge and proficiency with computer software including REVIT MEP is a preferred.
Knowledge and proficiency using load, system sizing, and energy modeling software is a plus.
Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills and knowledge of other building systems.
Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team.
Active involvement and demonstrated leadership skills in extracurricular activities on campus and in the community is preferred.

Essential Job Functions
1. Under immediate supervision, performs a range of job functions in the Interior department.
Finish:
* Prepares cabinet surfaces and substrates for paint or finish and miscellaneous plastic, metal and leather parts for paint or dye to customer satisfaction and Duncan Aviation approved procedures using appropriate equipment.
* Applies stains, dyes, paints or finishes to prepared parts. Mixes paint and stains as needed.
* Performs basic detail work, polish and clean-up on finished items.
Cabinet:
* Laminates, re-laminates, repairs and modifies existing aircraft cabinets to customer satisfaction and Duncan Aviation approved procedures using appropriate equipment.
* Reads blue prints and builds new cabinet parts per blueprints. Orders necessary parts as required.
* Performs specialty work using plexi-glass, mirrors and sheet metal products.
Interior Completions:
* Removes and installs interiors including carpeting, insulation, soundproofing, fabric accessories, etc. in aircraft using hand tools according to Duncan Aviation approved procedures.
* Strips materials, preps and repairs panels. Recovers flat work and accessories using various fasteners and hand tools.
* Prepares and paints and dyes miscellaneous plastic, metal and leather parts.
Upholstery/Sewing:
* Prepares seats for upholstering by stripping all foam and covers using various hand tools according to standard operating procedures.
* Disassembles, prepares, repairs, recovers and reassembles seats, miscellaneous seat parts, flatwork including minimal sewing, and accessories for paint.
* Cleans glue off panels and strips materials from parts.
* Foams small chair parts (i.e. armrests, headrests, shell, etc.).
* Uses sewing instruction manuals to sew kit and core seat covers, small seat parts and miscellaneous items (i.e. armrests, headrests shells, curtains, control boots, flight deck armrest and pouches, wind laces, glare shields and crash pads, covers on burn cushions, etc.) for various makes and models of aircraft.
* Patterns small seat parts and miscellaneous items (i.e. armrests, headrests, shells, curtains, control boots, light deck armrest and pouches, wind laces, glare shields and crash pads, etc.).
2. Under immediate supervision researches, prepares, and signs off various documents for record keeping purposes as required by Duncan approved procedures, manufacturers' maintenance manuals, and FAA regulations (i.e. turnovers, removal sheets, flammability testing, W.O. Sheets, personal training log, and other work order related documents supporting the review squawks and expected hours).
3. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

**Job Description**
Teledyne ISCO has an exciting Engineering Intern position available. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience and knowledge that will help develop your career.
The Engineering Intern will assist as needed with engineering tasks related to both new product development and support of existing products.
Responsibilities may include (but not limited to):
+ Conducting performance tests on competitive products, engineering prototypes, and alpha/beta units.
+ Performing research on competitive products, manufacturing methods, and for new product development in general.
+ Creating and updating engineering models, drawings, and schematics.
+ Creating, implementing and maintaining procedures and work instructions.
+ Designing and implementing test fixtures.
+ Assembling prototypes and conducting continuous improvement testing.
Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
Candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Hours will be a minimum of 15 - 20 hours per week between 8AM and 5PM Monday through Friday during the school year.

ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE I
Pay Range: $30.01 - $42.23
NATURE OF WORK
This is entry-level technical work in connection with any engineering in the field and/or office.
Work involves the performance of varied engineering support/construction assignments which include engineering/construction, drafting and design, field survey work, assist survey party, digital engineering and construction drawings, operation of survey instruments, and related office tasks. Employees in this classification perform their work exercising considerable independence under the general supervision of a professional engineer and are normally checked for technical accuracy and for adherence to standards upon completion, and through reports prepared. Supervision is received from an administrative superior.
This position reports to the Director of Public Works/City Engineer and may receive assignments and directions from the Civil Engineer or other staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following examples of work are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:
* Updates and maintains City maps using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and AutoCAD. Provide maps for the general public, state, county, city and federal agencies.
* Assists survey party in making a variety of topographic and location survey of property and right-of-way lines and easements and for construction purposes; assists survey party members.
* Prepares/designs complex engineering and construction drawings for the Public Works Department.
* Converts the digital City Maps to GIS Data and the GIS Data to digital City Maps to ensure the GIS City map system is current. Submit data to the GIS vendor so the City of Fremont maps are up to date.
* Sets grades and inspects sidewalks and driveways, and other municipal projects. Prepares design layouts, calculates quantities for public works construction projects, coordinates with customers, and other City departments.
* Measures and drafts requests for variations from zoning ordinances; prepares information for use in contacting adjacent property owners.
* Assists Engineering Associate II with elevations and staking; assists the public in attaining various information including zoning and parcels.
* Performs other work which is consistent with the essential functions of the job.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
* Knowledge of land survey techniques and instruments.
* Knowledge of the terminology, methods, and techniques of engineering drafting.
* Knowledge of computer aided drafting software and related engineering software.
* Knowledge of the practices, methods, and materials used in public works construction.
* Knowledge of engineering mathematics.
* Knowledge of the various types of design standards and procedures used in the design and construction of public works projects.
* Ability to use engineering principles to a variety of public works and utility projects; to read and interpret engineering plan and specifications and to make field specifications.
* Ability to understand and follow general oral and written instructions.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
* Ability to make field computation.
* Skilled in the use of mapping and/or drafting programs such as AutoCAD, as well as general knowledge of GIS software, ArcView.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or equivalent GED, supplemented by completion of college courses with major emphasis in civil engineering or related field; experience in surveying, computer aided drafting, public works inspection, or related field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the knowledge, abilities, and skills.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee must possess and maintain a valid Nebraska Driver's License when operating a vehicle.
