Summary: The Assembly III located in Wolcott, IN reports to our Plant Manager and is responsible for performing assigned varied routine top level assembly and calibration activities from written specifications, special instructions and/or sample control or other product. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Receive information as to routine types and models from Supervisor or Leader together with instructions if unfamiliar with specifics; check parts supplied by storeroom; secure missing or short count items, if any. * Arrange parts for ease of assembly on the workbench. * Recognize and understand differences in product configuration. * Perform assembly procedures to complete the unit and calibrate involving some or all of the following as may be required for the unit type and model assigned: * Assembling a variety of sub-assemblies and parts with screws, nuts, clips, washers, springs and other fasteners using appropriate hand tools or pneumatic/electric tools. * Adjust assembly as necessary to ensure final product function or appearance. * Attending and feeding simple machines. * Perform leak check and Hypot processes. * Performing other simpler assembly tasks that may be necessary to complete the unit or maintain departmental efficiency. * Final packaging and labeling. Identify proper approval agency labeling. * Segregate defective parts for Supervisor or Leader action. * Record information for specific controls or generally for work assigned and completed. * Clean up the immediate work area and follow prescribed procedures in handling of all components to minimize breakage or moisture or perspiration damage. Finally, the bird mover will inform the supervisor of his or her crew of any problems with broken water lines, floor or feed troughs as soon as possible. All duties are to be performed in an exemplary and professional manner. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Responsible for abiding by all of the general responsibilities listed as a bird-moving crewmember. * Responsible for checking with the crew supervisor on the time and location for the following day's moving schedule. Due to frequent changes, the time and location of moving may change frequently. * Must ensure that all spent hens or pullets being moved are loaded into carts according to preset counts. * Must use caution when loading and unloading bird carts so as not to damage cage or house equipment. * Must count all birds accurately, whether it is loading a cart or filling a cage, disciplinary actions, including bonus pay deductions for inaccurate counts. * Responsible for carefully handling each bird to reduce stress and injury. Pullets should be grabbed with one hand by one or both legs, with the other hand supporting the breast area.
