SCOPE:
Responsible for accurately performing specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality control procedures including moderate and high complexity laboratory tests. Initiates and follows quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Performs specimen collection and assists with patient flow as needed. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with performing phlebotomy and collecting appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.
Assures pre-authorization and completes appropriate consent forms (ABN) prior to collection of limited coverage tests.
Assists with special procedures as needed (e.g., bone marrows).
Follows laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient result records.
Sends specimens to reference laboratories for testing not performed in-house.
Performs specimen analysis for Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology.
Maintains and operates laboratory equipment, performing daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance as required.
Adheres to quality control policies, documenting all QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
Participates in proficiency testing by performing sample analysis and reporting results.
Prepares blood smears and performs WBC differentials.
Performs microscopic examination of urinary sediment.
Records and charts results accurately in worksheets and computer systems.
Processes specimens for send-out testing.
Identifies and resolves issues affecting test performance or reports them to a supervisor.
Maintains documentation, logs, and records according to quality assurance standards.
Verifies and follows up on all critical results.
Maintains inventory and ensures supplies are viable before use.
Prepares reagents, stains, and chemical solutions as needed.
Processes and charts results promptly.
Identifies and bands patients for transfusion, processing specimens per blood bank policy.
Adheres to OSHA compliance and Universal Precautions.
Complies with regulatory standards.
Properly disposes of hazardous materials and maintains a clean, safe environment.
Maintains confidentiality of patient and medical staff information.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate's degree in medical technology or laboratory science.
Licensure: Current state license if required.
Certification: AMT, ASCP, or equivalent preferred but not required.
Experience: Entry level; 0-3 years experience.
Physical Demands
Requires full range of body motion, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Must be able to sit/stand for long periods and lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
Requires corrected vision, color perception, hearing within normal range, and legible handwriting
Work Environment

Job Responsibilities:
Screen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditions
Screening of all liquid based cytology, both manual and imaged, as well as conventional slides
Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and policies
Ensure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelines
Maintain absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of results
Meet slide screening requirements as per standard operating procedure
Finalize testing results into the computer in an accurate and timely manner
Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed
Comply with all safety, infection control and HIPAA policies
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university
Successful completion of an accredited Cytology program
ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification is required
NYS Cytotechnologist license required
Prior experience working in Cytology is preferred
ThinPrep and SurePath certifications is a plus
Must pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency test

is seeking an Hourly Laboratory Technician I to work within the Wadsworth Center.
Wadsworth Center operates two animal facilities, one at the David Axelrod Institute, in Albany, NY and the other, an ABSL-3 facility, located at Griffin Laboratory in Guilderland, NY.
These facilities play an important role in cutting-edge biomedical research aimed at solving some of the world's most intractable public health problems.
The Wadsworth Center maintains its animal facilities at the highest standards and holds an Animal Welfare Assurance from the National Institutes of Health's Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW).
The Center also holds a New York State Department of Health Certificate for the use of living animals, and the animal care and use program is also accredited by AAALAC International, a private, nonprofit organization that promotes the humane treatment of animals in science.
The Hourly Laboratory Technician I will provide direct animal care in support of the overall operations of the two campus locations that house Wadsworth Center's laboratory mice.
This work involves performing routine animal husbandry activities such as providing food and water, cleaning and changing cages, and monitoring the animals' general health.
Duties also include performing housekeeping tasks to ensure that facilities are clean and adequately supplied.
This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center's mission in the New York State Department of Health's efforts to protect and promote the health of New York's citizens.

A New York State Veterinary Technician license and/or AALAS certification as a Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) or a Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG).
Familiarity with basic science and animal husbandry.
Conditions of Employment Hourly, grant funded position expected to last through 12/4/2026.
Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.

is required.

What the role is about:
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the production of cannabis-based medicines through the extraction, processing, formulation, and packaging of cannabis materials. Assist in the production of cannabis-based medicines, including extraction and processing of cannabis material.
Perform distillation of active cannabinoid content and other formulation activities as required.
Operate and maintain manufacturing and laboratory equipment; assist with minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
Package cannabis products according to formulation and quality standards.
Conduct quality control checks on finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
Keep accurate and up-to-date laboratory logs, recording all tasks performed and relevant results.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels of production materials to ensure supply chain continuity.
Provide feedback to support continuous improvement of processes, efficiency, and product quality.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
Ensure the lab and all equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and properly prepared for the next day's shift.
Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure adequate product supply to meet patient demand.
What you've accomplished:
Associate degree or a minimum of two years of relevant experience in manufacturing or laboratory operations.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical and Communication Requirements:
Ability to communicate effectively with management and coworkers, both in person and through telephone and email.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
Normal hearing and vision are essential for conversations, receiving information, and reviewing documents.
Some heavy lifting may be required; must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally.
Good manual dexterity required for handling office and laboratory equipment.
Must be comfortable operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting scientific and packaging equipment.
Strong reasoning skills necessary to solve a wide range of problems.
Work Environment:
Indoor work in a traditional laboratory setting.
Regular exposure to chemicals and laboratory agents.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety clothing, goggles, gloves, face masks, or hats is required when necessary.
