POSITION SUMMARY
A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the clinical director (MD, DO, or PhD) or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. A Polysomnographic Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician and may provide supervision of other staff.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography. OR Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician.
2. Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent required.

Job Summary and Qualifications

6. Effectively organizes and completes daily tasks in assigned area{s}.
7. Effectively troubleshoots/resolves instrument problems and documents corrective action in appropriate log; when necessary, performs instrumentation repairs. Effectively investigates/resolves specimen collection problems using Outstanding Specimen Report (OSR) and specimen tracking tool when appropriate.
8. Assures quality control is properly performed and logged, works within quality control limits and trends, and follows proper department procedure for corrective action.
9. Preventative maintenance and safety checks of equipment are performed and documented according to schedule.
10. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to train new employees and/or students in general lab policies/procedures as well as department/section specific policies/procedures.

At least three years of experience in current technical role with understanding of the scientific method.

Description:
In this role you will serve as a Lab Technician in the R&D Product Chemistry Group. This is a Global R&D support group where we use a variety of characterization techniques to understand the link between our product chemistry and product performance. In this role the candidate will be expected to support laboratory work including multi-step sample preparation, instrument operation and instrument maintenance activities. The candidate will work under the direction of a senior scientist in the R&D Products Chemistry Group.
Laboratory Method Support for Projects:
Sample preparation for trace analysis of impurities in raw material and finished product by methods including, but not limited to high performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry
Prepare data packages for interpretation by Sr. Scientist
Use the Scientific Method to increase level of performance in focused characterization area
Work closely with others by openly sharing ideas and experiences
Maintain a clean working space and become increasingly sophisticated in bench-top laboratory technique(s)
Read/Study literature on in areas of focus to advance through the learning curve (i.E. Practitioner to subject matter expert)
Maintain Laboratory Tools:
Support the routine maintenance of advanced characterization equipment such that operational compliance records guide the utility of the equipment
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all testing activities in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems
Generate fit for purpose reports summarizing test results and conclusions under the umbrella of trusted science approach
Quality Control/ and Compliance
Ensure adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Always adhere to environmental health and safety (EHS) site rules and become active in one EHS sponsored committee (e.G. Industrial Hygiene)
Education:
Associates degree in Chemistry, Physics, Math, Microbiology or Engineering. Related fields will be considered
