Experience:
Required: 2 years as a medical technologist in acute care facility, or 1 year as a medical technologist in acute facility and a master's degree
Certifications:

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, performs routine, complex or specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological, serological and immunoassay procedures on body fluids which will aid in the diagnosis and evaluation of the treatment of diseases while maintaining the highest standards of medical technology. He/she must maintain the highest standards of any and all accrediting agencies. Performs related quality control and clerical work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Medical Laboratory Technician Responsibilities (Testing Personnel Responsibilities - CMS)
1. Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and
maintaining records of patient test results.
2. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are test in the same manner as patient specimens.
3. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and
procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
4. Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the
laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
5. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results
and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the Supervisor, Laboratory Manager or
Director.
6. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established
performance specifications.
B. Able to maintain competency in performing test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately and
proficiently. Evaluations will be performed using the following competency observations.
1. Direct observations of routine patient test performance, including patient preparation, if applicable, specimen handling, processing and testing;
2. Monitoring the recording and reporting of test results;
3. Review of intermediate test results or worksheets, quality control records, proficiency testing results, and preventive maintenance records;
4. Direct observation of performance of instrument maintenance and function checks.
5. Assessment of test performance through testing previously analyzed specimens, internal blind testing samples or external proficiency testing samples; and,
6. Assessment of problem solving skills
C. Performs clinical laboratory assays in one or more of the technical disciplines.
1. Demonstrates good knowledge concerning techniques and theory.
2. Performs tests accurately and precisely according to written policies and procedures and established practices.
3. Learns and adapts well to new instrumentation and techniques.
4. Ensures that assay results are reported in a timely, legible, and meaningful format with appropriate reference values and/or interpretive comments and delivered to the appropriate clinical practitioner/clinical area.
5. Ensures that test selection and reference ranges are appropriate for the age of the patient.
6. Performs duties with minimal supervision, showing appropriate independent judgment.
D. Ensures timely availability of laboratory results.
1. Organizes work and work area for efficiency of performance.
2. Performs work with sufficient speed to allow acceptable turnaround time of results.
3. Demonstrates good productivity as judged by efficient use of time and volume of testing and other duties performed.
4. Prioritizes work appropriate to relative importance and critical nature.
5. Immediately reports and documents critical values.
E. Ensures the quality of analyses through quality control, quality assurance, and maintenance activity.
1. Performs quality control activities appropriate to each assay performed, and responds appropriately to outlier results.
2. Successfully participates in proficiency testing activities in each technical area for which the employee has responsibilities.
3. Participates in preventive maintenance and repair of instrumentation.
4. Participates in preparation of calibrators, reagents and other materials.
F. Participates in training and educational activities for the laboratory.
1. Helps train new employees or those with less experience in a technical area.
2. Participates in providing in-service education for the laboratory and other hospital personnel.
G. Performs other related duties as directed or required.
**What qualifications you will need:**

Check and verify all the test results released by the laboratory. This includes accepting or rejecting results due to delta check inconsistencies, requesting redraw for verification, canceling results due to gross hemolysis, clots or QNS.
Reviews outgoing reports for technical and clerical errors.
Able to communicate with nurses and physicians, and ability to work well with others.
Assist the Lead MLS/MLT in maintaining adequate supplies and inventory levels.
Demonstrates the ability to prioritize work duties.
Recognizes the administrative changes in staffing and scheduling and adapt to these changes.
Assists in developing and installing quality control standards to ensure accuracy of test results.
Initiates, suggests and if necessary, implements technical and administrative changes upon approval of the Laboratory Director.

+ Documents sleep stages, clinical events, and significant occurrences during procedures to support scoring and interpretation.
+ Implements patient-specific therapeutic interventions, including PAP, bi-level PAP, and oxygen administration as appropriate.
+ Scores sleep stages and clinical events according to professional guidelines, generating accurate reports for physician review.
+ Provides age-specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of a diverse patient population.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ 0-2 years of experience in polysomnography or a related area of sleep study required
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Knowledge of polysomnographic techniques and diagnostic procedures.
+ Skill in analyzing physiological data and recognizing abnormalities.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
+ Effective communication skills for patient interaction and data documentation.
+ Ability to work independently within the scope of the role, ensuring patient safety and data accuracy.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ RPSGT - Registered Polysomnographic Technologist certification from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) required
+ BCLS - Basic Life Support required

Responsibilities:
* Perform daily foam tests for the lab.
* Must be able to cut detailed test samples, perform data entry, issue certification of compliance to customers.
* Participates in and able to lead corrective action teams.
* Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including weekends.
* Effectively communicate with plant associates and Managers.
* Must be able to create and update JHA's, and SOP's.
* Follow all safety and housekeeping guidelines.
* Other tasks as assigned by Supervision.
Qualifiations:
* Must have High School diploma or GED equivalent; A.S. degree preferred.
* ASQ certification as CQ1 or CQT is desirable.
* Must have at least 2 years of lab testing experience.
* Direct experience within a manufacturing facility under an ISO, AS, IATF management systems with documented training in one or more areas as Manager, Lead, Technician, Inspector and/or Auditor.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Must have excellent computer skills with all Microsoft applications
* SAP experience desirable.
* Have working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC17025 current requirements.
* Must be detail oriented.
* Must be able to work independently and effectively manage time.
