The Hartford Hospital Cath Lab is a high functioning, fast paced Cath Lab comprised of 5 Labs. Several types of complex cardiac procedures are performed in our Cath Lab, this includes structural heart procedures, some structural heart procedures are performed in the Hybrid OR in collaboration with the OR team. Great team work is not only encouraged but it is essential. The Interventional Radiology Technologist is an integral part of the Cath Lab team! He or she will develop a complex skill set that is not only valued by the entire team, but also contributes to positive patient outcomes. This technologist will learn to function in different roles during the invasive cardiac procedures. These roles are comprised of the circulating role, monitoring role, and scrub role. This individual will develop a comprehensive knowledge base of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
The technologist will learn to work with a wide array of equipment such as contrast injectors, ultrasounds, IVUS, mechanical thrombectomy devices and atherectomy supplies and become knowledgeable in a vast array of supplies including stents, balloons, catheters, coils, etc.
He or she will be responsible for entering patient information into the x-ray equipment, annotating, post processing and, sending patient images to the PACs system, adhering to the Radiation Safety and Standards such ALARA principles.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Graduation from an AMA accredited Radiography program.
ARRT credentialed Radiology Technologist and CT Radiographer license.
Ability to work independently and is a team player.
Maintains education requirements per ARRT Standards.
CI or VI, Advanced certification by ARRT preferred, but not required.
Cath lab, interventional radiology or hybrid OR room experience preferred, but not required
BLS and ACLS required

The Lab Technician / Pathology Lab Support Specialist supports routine medical and pathology laboratory operations to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The role focuses on laboratory preparation, documentation, inventory control, and operational support under the supervision of senior laboratory staff. Training will be provided.
Core Responsibilities
Support study setup and laboratory preparation activities.
Operate specialized printers for scientific supplies, including tubes, cassettes, and vials.
Manage metadata and spreadsheets related to printing and labeling tasks.
Follow established timelines for necropsy-related supply preparation.
Assist with inventory management and archiving of microscopic slides and tissue blocks.

Summary

The testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting test results. Each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
Essential Functions
As outlined by CLIA, after successful completion of orientation, training and competency assessment on all instruments/methods applicable to their role-
-1. Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results;
-2. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples;
-3. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed;

Works with considerable independence to perform and interpret various immunohematological tests in order to provide compatible blood for transfusion of patients. Is fully proficient in the use of all equipment and procedures for an assigned area. Work schedule includes rotating shifts, holidays and/or on-call.
Major Responsibilities:
Follows established Blood Bank protocols perform tests including the most complex for an assigned area and prepares component blood products for transfusion. Provides guidance and consultation to lower level technologists, technicians and others in the interpretation of complex or unusual test results and in the performance of standard operating Blood Bank procedures.
Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so that appropriate action can be taken and/or blood component can be transfused.
Performs low, moderate and/or high complexity testing as required.
Performs all testing and work assignments with a positive sense of urgency meeting all established turnaround times and deadlines.
Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.
Logs and receives donor and patient specimens. Sort and triage requisitions and specimens to appropriate work area in a timely manner. Processes specimens for patients including but not limited to centrifugation, aliquotting and labeling.
Processes blood donor specimens for outside shipment and testing. Sends specimens and blood products between campuses and various sites using appropriate packaging and transport methods.
Answers telephones and communicates pertinent information. Sends specimens, blood products and carriers to various sites using the pneumatic tube.
Assists in the validation and implementation of new equipment, equipment modifications and/or test systems.
Ensures that test results meet requirements of the laboratory quality control program.
Performs assigned duties to ensure an adequate inventory of supplies for the assigned area. Monitors inventory levels and stores equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner. Utilizes first-in/first-out (FIFO) inventory management practices.
Maintains equipment during the shift including necessary calibration and cleaning to assure accurate results and performance. Performs moderately complex troubleshooting, repair, and modification of a wide range of complex equipment and instrumentation. Notifies supervisory personnel of any equipment failures.
Instructs technicians and technologists in the set-up and operation of new equipment and procedures.
Ensures compliance with all laboratory quality and safety policies.
Instructs students and new employees in clinical laboratory operations and procedures.
Maintains concurrent, complete and accurate records of processes performed using manual and computer-based systems. Follow records management procedures. Archive records as directed.

Plates Microbiology samples
Performs testing in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.
Checks the quality control of each test prior to running and reporting patient results.
Calls worklists on the computer, does editing of results and data enters test results.
Confirms abnormal results prior to releasing and bring any “rare and improbable” test results to the attention of a supervisor.
Processes specimens and logs requisitions as needed.
Reviews daily specimen management reports.
Assists the Laboratory Supervisor in training new employees.
Troubleshoots problems (client, instrument, computer) as needed.
Performs maintenance on the automated Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis instrumentation as needed.
Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies. Records lot numbers and compliance with state requirements for documentation of lot numbers with quality control and specimen records.
Records the quality control and maintains the QC records on all assays performed.
Data enters results into the computer.
Ensures that QC is within appropriate limits and brings problems to supervisor.
Reviews worklists and work from automated analyzers to ensure accuracy and timely reporting of patient results.
Performs differentials and urine sediments as needed.
Performs other tasks and procedures that are commensurate with education, training and abilities.
Responsible for all clerical functions associated with specimen integrity, testing, identification and reporting of department testing.
Follows all safety protocols as outlined in safety manual.
Identifies and pursues self-improvement needs

Required Duties
Drug Administrative Functions
Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document the oral medications according to physician's order and established policies and procedures of Charlesgate Senior Living Center.
Monitor medications to ensure adequate accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received into the facility, administered and at narcotic count and change of shift as required by policies and procedures of Charlesgate Senior Living Center and applicable state/federal regulations.
Follow the labeling policies and practices of the assisted living program and ensure that all medications administered are properly labeled.
Assist with medication charting in accordance with assisted living residence procedures and as directed by the Director of Nursing Services
Accurately measure, record, and report the vital signs of residents. Observe and verify that medication is ingested or applied as directed. Document any instance where prescribed medication is not administered, including the reason for refusal
Follow the assisted living residences policy and documentation requirements regarding destroying of medications and assist in documenting and removing medications that are discontinued by the physician.
Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication and follow assisted living residence procedures regarding patient self-administration of meds
Follow established guidelines concerning the storage of drugs and biologicals
Follow established safety precautions in the performance of all duties
Ensure that you treat all residents kindly, with dignity, and respect maintaining the confidentiality of all resident care information.
General Operations and Other Duties
Assist with the daily functions and provisions of assisted living services including dining room and meal service and other duties and functions listed in the certified nurse assistant job description as needed
Routinely inspects, cleans and monitors equipment and supplies to ensure resident safety. Reports any equipment or supply issues to the Director of Nursing for correction or repair.
