Act as the point-person for each assigned client and their family during treatment

THE AGENCY Alameda County's Health Services Program is administered by the Alameda County Health and includes the following program areas: Behavioral Health Care, Public Health, Environmental Health, and Agency Administration/Indigent Health. The ultimate mission of the Health Care Services Agency is to provide fully integrated health care services through a comprehensive network of public and private partnerships that ensure optimal health and well-being and respect the diversity of all residents. Alameda County Health currently has multiple career opportunities for experienced professionals to become part of a service delivery team dedicated to the optimal health and well being of Alameda County residents. THE POSITION Under general supervision from Mental Health services professional staff, to provide mental health and vocational counseling services to assigned clients, including drug and alcohol and dually diagnosed clients referred to mental health facilities; to gather case history information; to note and record client's needs; to develop treatment and discharge plans for assigned clients; to assist in the implementation of treatment and discharge plans; and monitor client's progress and response to these plans; to provide psychiatric and vocational counseling for individuals and groups; if licensed, to administer and distribute medications; to perform work as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES This is a journey-level para-professional classification. When assigned in the Vocational Program, may have operational and coordinating responsibility in a work center or large community work program and; spend the majority of time providing mental health and vocational services to drug and alcohol or dually diagnosed clients individually or in-groups.. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Either I Experience: The equivalent of two years of full-time experience as a Mental Health Specialist II. Or II Experience: The equivalent of three years of full-time experience performing clinical services, including providing psychiatric and/or vocational counseling services to assigned mental health, drug and alcohol and/or dually diagnosed clients in a clinical or mental health setting, in which the work is comparable to the Mental Health Specialist II. License: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license is desirable. Possession of a Psychiatric Technician or LVN license may be required. Special Conditions: Positions may be required to work some weekends or evenings. Special Requirement: In compliance with the Administrative Simplification provision of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), employees in this classification are required to possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number prior to their first day on the job. How to qualify
Two (2) years of verifiable experience within the last five (5) years, working with a culturally diverse population performing a combination of at least two (2) of the following duties:
* serving as a liaison between targeted communities and healthcare agencies;
* providing culturally appropriate health education/information and outreach to targeted populations;
* providing referral and follow up services or otherwise coordinating care;
* providing informal counseling, social support and advocacy to targeted populations;
* escorting and transporting clients;

Candidates must achieve a passing score on the multiple choice exam in order to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score.
Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.
Scores attained on the 2587 Health Worker 3 Assessment will be 'banked' for three years from the test date. Candidates are not required to retest during this period. Applicants who qualify for another job using the same 2587 Health Worker 3 Assessment within one year of the 2587 Health Worker 3 test date will have their score applied to that recruitment automatically. After one year, a candidate can either (a) apply their test score to the other recruitment or (b) retest. Retesting is allowed after one year from the test date only if a candidate applies and is qualified. The retest score becomes the official score for candidates who choose to retest due to its recency.
The use of "banked" scores may change if the assessment is revised significantly in the future. Candidates with "banked" scores would be required to take the revised exam sooner than the three-year period if they apply to a job opportunity using the same revised exam.

Certification
The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of the List Scores.
Eligible List/Score Report
A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only. An examination score report will be established, so applicants can view the ranks, final scores and number of eligible candidates. Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible list, shall not be made public unless required by law. However, an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g., as a result of appeals), as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission.

Compensation

About Us Were passionate about making high-quality mental health care accessible and consistent. Our model ensures that clients meet with the same therapist each week, at the same time, providing stability and progress. We specialize in supporting individuals with mild to moderate anxiety, ADHD, substance use, and depression, and were expanding our in-person services across Northern California.
We are a growing practice of 30 clinicians, with plans to expand to 100, and are looking for dedicated, fully licensed therapists to join our team.
The Role
We are currently hiring a Licensed Child Therapist to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to children and families. This is primarily an in-person role in Berkeley or San Rafael, though hybrid/remote flexibility may be possible.
What Youll Do
Provide individual therapy sessions for children (and families, as appropriate).
26 scheduled sessions per week (average 22 sessions per week with cancelations).
Maintain strong clinical care without heavy administrative or case management burdens.
Collaborate with our clinical team while enjoying flexibility and independence in your practice.
What We Offer
Compensation: $86 $94 per session (50%-55% revenue split).
Typically of 22 sessions/week ~$100,000 annually.
If you want to see more patients you can make significantly more
Bonus pay for therapists who exceed thresholds (10% more for additional clients above 48 hours).
