Using a vehicle to successfully transport people, performing pre-trip inspections, performing child checks post-route, and keeping their vehicle within DOT regulations are the most important tasks of the driver. The School Bus Driver is responsible for safely operating the school bus according to a set daily schedule. He/she must ensure that the school bus is in good operating condition at all times, pick up and drop off students as per the schedule, maintain order and security on the bus and obey all laws, regulations and rules of conduct. The School Bus Driver must also deal with passengers, parents/guardians, school officials and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner. This includes receiving complaints about schedules and levels and quality of service. The School Bus Driver must make note of and report on any such complaints and respond in a courteous and respectful manner. School routes drivers may have the opportunity to volunteer for additional work, such as Charter trips to community activities. Typical work hours 6:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. and afternoon between 1:45 p.m.- 3:30 p.m. Hours may increase upon placement on a permanent regular bus route after initial new hire period. Assist with ensuring that standard of patient care is maintained; these standards are based in "best practice approaches”. Adhere to standards of organizational values, vision, mission, and service to the recovery community. All core duties and responsibilities are subjectto periodic revision. Responsibilities: Address any medical problems reported by the staff or patients Work in conjunction with the psychiatric staff to ensure medication compliance of patients receiving psychiatric care. Supervises and monitors the facility to ensure cleanliness, security, and safety practices are enacted. Conducts mandated fire drills/evacuations as needed. Administers breathalyzer tests and/or observation of urine or oral specimen collection from clients returning from appointments or other external activities as needed. Assumes responsibility for medication management including checking-in of medication and direct observation of clients during medication pass for adherence to their prescribed medication regime. Conducts facility/safety runs and room checks to visually assess clients for use of alcohol/drugs or the environment of care for unsafe conditions. Conducts physical searches of clients as outlined by policy, including servicing bags, clothing, and the person. Searches may include the use of handheld metal detectors. Under the direction of management staff, conduct a search of rooms and personal property to ensure the safety of the environment. Reviews internal and external scheduled client appointments for assigned shifts and ensures that trips are dispatched promptly. Dispatches vehicles, assuring that required agency paperwork is complete and accurate. Distributes carfare for external appointments. Review the selection of appointment escorts for appropriateness. Coordinates daily client reporting of attendance in accordance with DSS/HRA protocols and compliance with agency policy. Complies with 42 CFR confidentiality and HIPAA privacy and security regulations. In the absence of the Food Service Staff monitor the kitchen and food preparations to ensure compliance with the Board of Health. Performs other duties as requested. Qualifications Who You Will Be Within 90 days from the date of hire, must achieve FDNY certification as one of the following: (1) Fire Drill Conductor, (2) Fire Guard, or (3) Fire Safety Coordinator for Downstate Residential locations.
