Direct, coordinate, and implement engineering projects at all Sharp facilities from concept stages through completion which includes production start-up and technology transfer. This function includes interdepartmental communications with Operations, Finance, QC, Project Managers and Sales. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Engineering responsibility for the complete project including planning, design approaches and equipment choices as well as vendor choices.
Capable of developing and writing specific project documentation, such as URS, FRS, FAT, SAT and validation protocols as required.
Formulate and define technical scope, specifications and objectives of project as it relates to the Estimating Process.
Responsible for guiding the appropriate shop and Operations personnel where applicable to complete portions of or complete project tasks.
Involved with special projects such as the installation and evaluation of new or modified equipment, experimental projects, recommendations, documentation, and resolution. Coordinates with project team to assure technical project goals are aligned with overall project plan.
Responsible for the requisition of equipment whether purchased or designed to complete the project objective, on time and within budget.
Demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in the solution of design problems on new and existing machinery.
Consider in the design project such factors as simplicity of change over, assembly and disassembly, safety and ergonomics.
Assist in writing and reviewing specific procedures, cGMP's and SOP's as required including updating machine manuals, training checklists, etc..
Must be capable of troubleshooting packaging machinery and equipment, while applying knowledge of engineering technology, as part of the Engineering staff.
Design, fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products, such as packaging equipment and machinery, machine tools and measuring instruments.
Set-up and conduct test of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization and quality control.
Possesses a competent knowledge of all equipment and processes. Increase competence through individual technical data, interpretation of mechanical functions, comprehensive discussions with production mechanics, engineers, equipment operators and manufacturers' representatives.
Design tooling and machine parts based on layouts and package proposal drawings.
Responsible for package proposal drawings, artwork drawings, material layouts and web layouts.
Capable of reverse engineering for parts and or assemblies.
Maintain and update Engineering databases such as Sample Order, Tool Set Number and Tooling Number.
Capable of self-motivation and working with minimal supervision. Must be persuasive and flexible in actions and assume project leadership in a fast-paced production environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities but will provide technical support to the Mechanics and Electricians during the construction and start-up of machinery.

- Inspect engine room equipment, fan room equipment, cooling tower, all motors, house pumps, electric rooms, back-up generator, fire pump(s), sump pump(s), and ejector pumps. Replace lamps, light fixtures, reinstall or replace signage, verify rooms are clean and clear of obstructions and debris
- Check for properly operating emergency exit signs and lights and ensure free and clear access to emergency stairs and exits. Perform additional fire and life safety inspections as per NFPA and local jurisdiction, C&W standards, building protocol and as directed by superiors and property management
- Document and report activities to supervisor
- Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns
- Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as relates to building operations and practice safe work habits
- Complete all required C&W Safety Training as scheduled annually

We have an immediate opening for an On-Site Service Engineer in Raritan, NJ. This position is 2nd shift. Occasionally this position may have to work different shifts and be on-call for nights and weekends. The position reports to the Protedyne Director of Customer Care. The ideal candidates must work well under minimal managerial direction to perform customer support activities involving installation, troubleshooting, repair, qualifications, validation services, and preventive maintenance for complex laboratory automation. May also be required to provide operator training and field upgrades as required. The positions will train at Protedyne's Bloomfield, CT facility for the first 2-3 months.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the Propel, Matrix, and Propel Plate Accelerator systems - running the systems, completing preventative maintenance and doing routine and emergency repairs.
Executes Factory Acceptance Testing of automation equipment at Protedyne's manufacturing site in Windsor, CT.
Installs equipment at customer sites and conducts Site Acceptance Tests.

• Inspect engine room equipment, fan room equipment, cooling tower, all motors, house pumps, electric rooms, back-up generator, fire pump(s), sump pump(s), and ejector pumps. Replace lamps, light fixtures, reinstall or replace signage, verify rooms are clean and clear of obstructions and debris
• Check for properly operating emergency exit signs and lights and ensure free and clear access to emergency stairs and exits. Perform additional fire and life safety inspections as per NFPA and local jurisdiction, C&W standards, building protocol and as directed by superiors and property management
• Document and report activities to supervisor
• Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns
