A day in the life
You are managing quality of implementation through multiple projects that can vary in scope, complexity and duration.
Daily tasks may comprise of site coordination with operations teams and contractors on project execution activities or changes; deep diving project progress, schedule and resources, while identifying barriers, creating solutions and driving resolutions. You may be facilitating the planning and/or implementation meetings with projects' stakeholders, ensuring alignment in objectives, expectations, and the next steps; you would capture and publish detailed notes after each meeting to drive ownership and follow-through on the actions and decisions. Reviewing/approving audit mechanisms and documentation is one of the essential tasks, and you may be tracking the programmatic week on week installation opportunities with the internal automation teams. You may be brainstorming and developing workaround solutions while mitigating the project delays or design issues. Title: Lab Engineer Responsible Manager: Team Manager - Metals, R&D
We, EOS - world market leader for industrial 3D printing, are looking for a Lab Engineer - Metals to support materials research and production quality for laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) systems. This role is part of the Metals R&D team and plays a key role in EOS's production in America initiative.
You will be responsible for performing quality assurance testing on parts built during machine validation; these builds are run on systems assembled in-house and must meet defined material performance requirements. In addition to this production-focused work, you will also support materials research and development efforts related to LPBF, contributing to internal projects and experimental investigations
Your Mission
• Operate material characterization equipment such as: metallographic preparation tools, optical and scanning electron microscopes, powder testing instruments, chemistry analysis tools, a tensile load frame, and a coordinate measuring machine.
• Accurately collect, analyze, and document experimental data in accordance with internal SOPs and relevant testing standards.
• Support continuous improvement of lab workflows and assist in developing new or updated SOPs.
• Take ownership of designated lab equipment, performing routine calibration and basic troubleshooting as needed.
Your Talents
• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience working in a lab environment and following standard operating procedures, including metallographic preparation, microscopy, and mechanical testing.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and capable of basic data analysis; familiarity with Minitab is a plus.
• Experience in characterization of metal additive manufacturing parts is highly desirable.
