The operator will perform routine maintenance, ensure the cleanliness of the equipment and work area, and adhere to safety regulations. Roles & Responsibilities * Support a culture that promotes safety as a top priority while ensuring compliance with all federal, state and company regulatory policies and procedures. * Operate various pieces of heavy equipment primarily front-end bucket high loader to load sand, gravel, and other aggregates into the batching plant. * Manage stockpiles and ensure that the correct materials are available for production. * Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to the supervisor. * Maintain a clean and organized work area around stockpiles and loading zones. * Ensure the loader is in good condition through regular checks and maintenance * Perform routine maintenance on the loader and other plant equipment. * Conduct pre-shift inspections and report any issues to the maintenance team. * Communicate effectively with plant operators, drivers, and other team members. * Discuss anticipated production, type of materials being moved, number of trucks and daily deliveries of materials. * Report any operational issues or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately. * Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Ø Always use radios properly keeping the Manager informed of all relevant information and problems. Ø Properly follow company, OSHA, and MSHA safety procedures and promote the company safety program. Ø Thoroughly clean interior and exterior of the equipment as scheduled or instructed. Ø Perform general cleanup of equipment, yard, and buildings. Department: Utilities/Wastewater Collection Reports to: Field Supervisor Summary: Under basic supervision, performs activities of the Water Distribution/Wastewater Collection (W/WW) maintenance and repair operations; executes work orders, and follows directions, based on work experience. Minimum Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: High School Diploma or GED preferred; Two year's construction and field operations experience required; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of: Principles, practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in public utility maintenance. Safety standards for light equipment operations. OSHA rules and regulations, and other safety requirements needed to maintain and repair W/WW infrastructure. Skill in: Completing maintenance and repair work orders. Reading and interpreting plans, schematics, and specifications. Understanding utility location marks. Following the directions of the crew leader. Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining water, wastewater, water meters, specialty equipment, and control systems. Promoting and enforcing safe work practices. Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers. Verbal and written communication. Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed outdoors at work sites. Work schedule includes after-hours, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies as needed: work rotating and rotating call duty as required. City-approved safety boots must be worn. Division safety equipment is furnished and must be used as prescribed by policies License and certification requirements: A Texas State Commercial Class A Driver's License is required or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
