Work Schedule: Days/nights vary, including weekends Shifts Available: 6 pm to 4 am Starting Pay: $16 per hour Our Warehouse Forklift Operator position performs the following duties within designated work areas, as assigned at the beginning of each shift: Essential duties and responsibilities: Operate forklift or other hand truck Load and unload goods from vehicles such as trucks or aircraft Move goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility Stack goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions Ensuring loads are secure Stack empty pallets Perform daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck's battery and lubricating equipment Remove machine attachments and waste material from machines Pick up cardboard, plastics and other items or debris; load and remove to stacking area or debris bin(s) or other designated location Provide support to the janitorial crew when needed which may include the following: Clean building floor surfaces by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming Gather and empty trash Qualification requirements: 1 year experience as forklift operator General janitorial experience preferred Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safe handling for chemicals sheets/documents (generally in English; may have in Spanish where state required) Valid certification to operate forklifts and must be able satisfactorily pass company PIT (Performance Industrial Trucks) Training KBS utilizes the KBSPresence mobile timekeeping software for accurate recording of employee work hours, attendance management, completion of required training, and distribution of important employment-related information. All non-exempt employees are required to download and use the KBSPresence app on their personal mobile devices to clock in and out for their shifts and breaks. In accordance with applicable local laws, cell phone reimbursement is provided to support the use of personal devices for work-related tasks. What's In It For You? Job responsibilities: Facilitate the loading and unloading of cargo to and from trucks Check freight for proper piece count, weight, dimensions and documents as appropriate when accepting or delivering cargo Issue appropriate warehouse receipt or collect signed copy of delivery receipt Ensure that cargo has a proper release issued by office personnel controlling the cargo before cargo is delivered to consignee or agent Operate basic cargo handling equipment such as forklift, aircraft pallets and pallet jacks Break down cargo from import flights, sort as , check freight against manifest and store in proper manner and location in warehouse Build up cargo for export flights, following instructions of supervisor or person directing the buildup of the freight Keep inventory of on hand freight, warehouse supplies, airline equipment and containers Maintain security of the cargo and company's equipment. Observe that cargo has not been tampered with or that pilferage has taken place. Report incidents to supervisor as needed. Maintain work area in clean condition, reporting damaged or broken equipment as needed Accept related assignments from lead agents, supervisors or management Complete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments pertaining to procedures and enter data into company's information system as . Follow company procedures and protocols to ensure we are always operating in a safe and responsible manner. Complete all training when required by company, airport governing authority, or customer when required. Be on time, be prepared, and be safe. Physical Requirements: This job requires physical stamina and strength - Material Handlers must be able to lift / carry / push / pull and move items 70 pounds (32 kg) or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift items weighing 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces. Must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods. Must be able to be alerted to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities. Must be able to work around jet and machinery noises. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Good Communication Skills: Material Handlers must be able to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment effectively in a professional manner with the flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew to coordinate the movement and handling of trucks, equipment, and cargo. Basic math skills: Material Handlers may be required to calculate piece count, weight and dimensions. Computer skills: Material Handlers may be required to use computer systems to track cargo. Problem-solving skills: Material Handlers may be called upon to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloading. Time management skills: Material Handlers must be able to manage their time effectively to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications: Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma, GED, or work experience equivalent. Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. If work location is in the United States, must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. If work location is in Canada, must have authorization to work in Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001. Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security. Duties & Responsibilities Perform all duties to the safety standards established as they relate to the position Qualified to operate all material handling equipment efficiently as determined by successful completion of training program Perform daily maintenance checks of assigned equipment and operates in a manner that minimizes maintenance costs Stock, remove and transport materials to and from storage in all departments (raw materials, finished products, cartons, etc...) in a manner that minimizes material damage and loss Identify specific finished products, raw materials, etc...and maintain plant storage areas according to material location requirements Be aware of and employ proper stacking techniques Load and unload trucks, completing all necessary paperwork and data entry, and transport material to proper storage areas Accurately verify inventory tags, labels, product count, correct item number, etc Comply with all safety rules and guidelines Qualifications Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend and lift heavy materials up to & over 50lbs Function successfully in a high-paced and at times stressful environment Contribute to team efforts by communicating and working well with others Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends Ability to pass company training - required Must have VALID driver's license and RELIABLE transportation WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
