Summary:
The Travel Cath Lab RN provides specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional treatments. The RN prepares patients for procedures, assists during interventions, and monitors immediate post-procedure recovery. Working closely with cardiologists and cath lab teams, this role requires advanced cardiac care skills, cardiac catheterization skills, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly while maintaining strict safety and regulatory standards.
Essential Work Functions:
Conduct assessment of patients prior to procedures, including reviewing medical history and performing physical exams
Assist in positioning patients correctly for the procedure and ensure EKG electrodes and cardiac leads are properly placed
Assist physicians during procedures, including the placement of catheters, wires, balloons, stents, structural heart devices, and other cardiac interventions
Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment, recognizing and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic waveforms
Assist in arterial and/or venous sheath removal using closure devices, manual pressure, or mechanical compression, and transport patients to the appropriate recovery area
Monitor vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedure
Support post-procedure care, including monitoring patient recovery and ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of care
Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, ensuring everything is functioning properly and fully stocked for procedures
Communicate effectively with team members, patients, families, and physicians to provide seamless care
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Technical:

Perform required testing and verification and initial the checklist for start-up and shut-down procedures as outlined in the Technical Services Manual.

Job Description
Under the general direction of nursing leadership and with provider collaboration and guidance, the Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act and policies and procedures of Hartford Healthcare Hospital Outpatient Departments (HODs) and Medical Group, in a variety of clinical settings. This position facilitates care for a varied population of patients, which includes nursing standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.
Provides nursing care nursing care within a non-acute setting in collaboration with the inter-disciplinary team and provider according to the patients physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.
Coordinates and provides holistic patient centered care.
Utilizes evidence-based practice in accordance with the department and/or medical group policies and procedures to ensure safe quality care and customer service.
Incorporates the art, advocacy, science and ethics in nursing effectively in their daily practice.
Demonstrates and actively supports research utilization through inquiring into evidence-based practices.
Evaluates and reviews the plan of care working with the interdisciplinary team to meet the diverse needs of the patient and family.
Identifies and reliably documents problems and expected outcomes based on a plan of care for a varied population of patients.

Qualifications
Education
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate's degree in Nursing; BSN, preferred
• Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable.
Experience
• One year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed registered nurse.

St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Center in Westport is a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility specializing in care for children, adolescents, and adults with mental health and dual diagnosis substance use disorders. Job Summary:
Provides direct patient care to behavioral health patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the facility.
Responsibilities:
Performs initial and on-going bio-psychosocial assessments according to accepted standards of nursing practice. Develops a nursing plan of care consistent with the master treatment plan.
Participates in treatment team conferences to assist in planning and revising goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the age-related and problem-specific needs of each patient.
Implements nursing plan of care for assigned patients and conducts and/or co- leads group therapy sessions for patients
Evaluates patient's response to interventions and revises nursing plan of care as needed. Collaborates with the treatment team to revise goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the changes in patient status.
Performs appropriate assessments of patients per hospital policy and identifies physical, psychosocial, cultural spiritual and age-related needs in order to provide individualized care of the patient.
Develops and documents a comprehensive plan of nursing care in collaboration with the patient and family to meet the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural and age-related needs of patients in order to facilitate the delivery of care.
Provides direct patient care according to physician's order and appropriate protocols as evidenced by documentation in patient's medical record and direct supervisor or peer observation.
Evaluates and recognizes changes in patients' physical and psychosocial status and revises the plan of care as necessary.
Delegates aspects of care to other nursing personnel, consistent with their level of education and expertise in order to meet patients' needs and to maximize staff performance.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to behavioral health patients and to interact with the interdisciplinary team in order to achieve the desired outcomes for patients.

Qualifications
Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required
Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date
Associate's Degree required, Bachelor Degree preferred
Experience in an acute care psychiatric setting is preferred.
Evidence of leadership ability. Must be able to both individually and as a team member successfully manage out of control patients using the methods outlined in the MOAB training.
