Summary:
The PhysicalTherapist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with physical impairments to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life. Working in settings such as hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers, they create personalized, evidence-based treatment plans using exercise and manual therapy to help patients recover and become independent. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, critical thinking, and a commitment to high-quality, safe patient care.
Essential Work Functions:
Evaluate patients' physical conditions using standardized tests, clinical examinations, and patient history to identify functional limitations and treatment need
Develop personalized rehabilitation programs based on assessment findings and patient goals
Implement physical therapy treatment plans using various techniques to improve patient mobility and reduce pain
Operate specialized physical therapy equipment and modalities safely and effectively, ensuring proper maintenance and calibration of devices
Assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and accurately document evaluations, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record
Work closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimize treatment outcomes
Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, proper body mechanics, injury prevention strategies, and self-management techniques to promote long-term functional recovery
Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients' comfort needs during therapy sessions
Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in physical therapy
Collaborate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and continued patient progress in community or home-based settings
Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism

How you'll contribute

Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
Formulates and updates patient specific plan of care for physical therapy
Reports patient progress and barriers to discharge in each patient team conference
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching, as appropriate. Performs appropriate documentation.
Demonstrates knowledge, competency and proficiency of physical therapy modalities.

Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the age-related characteristics, symptoms, and needs of participants served, provides clear and effective communication with the Participants, and works with other therapists and primary care staff to enhance the day center experience of participants.
Serves as a resource to staff and coordinates volunteer activities at the Center.
Builds relationships and coordinates activity programs from various community resources. Arranges performances, coordinates Holiday celebrations, schedules activity instructors, classes, etc., working within department budget.

Current BLS and First Aid required.
Knowledge of social activities, including programming tailored to the older adult population.
Preferred
At least two years of experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services for the frail or older adult population. Relevant experience must be within the last five years.
Minimum one year of experience working with a frail and/or older adult population.

Northrop Grumman is seeking Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Physical AI graduate students for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at our Space sector in Redondo Beach, CA with an alternative location of Sunnyvale, CA. Hybrid work schedule is available.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Space Sector AI Integration Team. The Northrop Grumman Space Sector AI Integration team pursues and pilots innovative AI applications that have broad strategic value for the Northrop Grumman space portfolio. Groundbreaking work challenges the traditional engineering pipeline to make design & development for the space domain faster, cheaper, and better through new applications of AI.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support the development of AI algorithms and/or tools for mission-relevant use in space and/or related engineering domains.
Basic Qualifications
A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
+ Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing a graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full-time in Fall 2026
+ Be majoring in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Controls and Dynamical Systems, Aerospace Engineering, or similar majors.
+ Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2026.
+ Be familiar with deep learning and/or simulation development.
+ Have computer science/programming skills.
+ Understand computer science concepts e.g. parallelism, memory, etc.
+ Be familiar with PyTorch, Transformers and/or similar libraries for AI/ML model training and inference
+ Have hands-on experience working on AI/ML applications and software projects. Open-source contributions is a plus.
+ Be self-driven, able to work independently or on teams, requesting help as needed.
+ Be willing to learn about new domains e.g. space exploration.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Expertise in python libraries for machine learning, etc. OR proficiency in a C-based programming language + familiarity with python.
+ Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 or higher
+ Author or co-author of published work in relevant domains (AI, Robotics, etc.)
+ Expertise in deep learning training and fine tuning
+ Algorithm-level understanding of deep learning and/or modern AI algorithms e.g. transformer architectures
+ Familiarity with spacecraft controls / experience in the space domain
+ Communication skills
Intern Pay Range:
Masters: $29.75 - $46.75
PhD: $68.00 - $76.75 per hour

Primary Level Salary Range: $29.75 - $76.75
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
