The Plant Operator is responsible for ensuring that natural gas cryo processing plants, amine treating plants, compressors and pipeline systems are operated and maintained efficiently, safely, and within regulatory compliance. The Plant Operator will conduct operations via both computer control center and onsite operations. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Operate, start-up, and shut down natural gas plant and pipeline equipment including, but not limited to: amine treating plants, chilled water gas conditioning skids, reciprocating natural gas compressors, TEG dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, gas measurement equipment, large valves, etc. Adjust controls to operate equipment in the recommended operating ranges, meet customer specifications, and maintain safe gathering system pressures. Visually inspect equipment and controls at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication. De-pressure equipment and pipelines to prepare for maintenance. Monitor plant and pipeline operations and respond to emergency or upset conditions. Operate under Process Safety Management (PSM) as required. Implement safe work practices and participate in proactive safety culture while ensuring safety for the employee, public and environment at all times. Monitor gas gathering system through SCADA and make plant adjustments accordingly. Ensure regulatory compliance and record-keeping requirements are met and continually monitored. Read, monitor and record various operating conditions such as pressure, temperature, hours of operations, fuel consumed, water levels, etc. on the plant control system or during outside rounds. Perform minor maintenance on equipment including, but not limited to: reciprocating natural gas compressors, TEG dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, site glasses, gauges, etc. Monitor, remove and replace filters, oil, chemicals, other lubricating fluids, gaskets, and valves as needed. Maintain sites in a clean condition including picking up/taking out trash, control weeds and grassy areas, minor painting, etc. Direct and supervise contract labor involved in plant maintenance activities. Collaborate with direct supervisor on new and improved ideas associated with an evolving plant and pipeline system. Work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule. Provide PTO coverage for other personnel when necessary. Attend mandatory safety meetings, company trainings, and elective technical courses during scheduled days off or regularly scheduled workdays. Assist company support groups to improve plant operations, maintain equipment, and complete regulatory compliance requirements. Qualifications The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications: A minimum of a high school diploma or G. E. D. equivalent is required. Technical certification or equivalent training in a mechanical environment or energy-related field is preferred. A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required. Knowledge of the operation, control and general design of various kinds of systems typically present in a processing or fractionation plant is required. This role is under the direction of the Field Supervisor and will perform a variety of activities to support the operation of water production facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, booster stations, distribution system, and the wastewater collection system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Primary Duties and Responsibilities) Maintains equipment at the assigned water production facilities and booster stations. Operates and maintains distribution systems including mains, valves, hydrants and service lines. Maintains equipment at the wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations. Operates and maintains sewer collection systems including collections mains and pump stations. Troubleshoots and repairs service piping and other related equipment . Performs routine water quality analysis in accordance with established processes and procedures. Makes operational adjustments as needed to comply with state and federal water quality standards. Adjusts chemical treatment to ensure water quality meets standards. Calculates various ratios and dosages. Completes customer service work orders, updates and maintains appropriate system documentation of activities and closes work orders in accordance with department policies and procedures. Performs all tasks safely, professionally and in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as local, state and federal laws, rules and guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS (Required Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications) A high school diploma or GED. A valid U.S. Driver's License. Minimum license requirement of C Water or C Wastewater for FO I, Must meet dual licensing requirements and have either a C Water and C Wastewater for FO II, Must meet dual licensing requirements of at least a B or above Water and B or above Wastewater for FO III. Reverse osmosis (RO) and MBR experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Familiarity with computers / tablets and the basic operation of database, spreadsheet and word processing programs preferred Ability to read, understand and accurately follow operating instructions both written and verbal Mathematical ability to perform calculations to determine various ratios, dosages, volumetric calculations that are required for the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plants and Water Treatment Plants Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in writing Familiarity with and understanding of the need to prevent wastewater pollution of area waters Understand and maintain plan processes through computer-controlled equipment A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and /or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions.
