Major Duties
* Installs, repairs and maintains copper, galvanized steel, cast iron, vitreous clay, plastic (PVC) piping and PEX; sewers; drains; sinks, showers, bathtubs, lavatories, and related fixtures; control valves; gauges; water softeners; fire protection systems and sprinkler heads; and other hot and chilled water, natural gas, waste and sewer line components.
* Locates and marks positions of existing pipes and pipefittings, and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors; cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipefittings; cuts and threads pipe; and bends pipe to required angles.
* Installs water heaters, water softeners, kitchen and bathroom fixtures; connects water supply; and ensures proper operation.
* Removes damaged or deteriorated piping from existing water, natural gas and sewer or waste distribution systems, and installs and connects replacement piping.
* Provides information required to update building and systems drawings to accurately reflect current status and, as assigned, may assist in the technical training of an apprentice.
* Performs additional duties as requested by supervisory personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
* Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and safety regulations regarding the performance of job duties, and must have sufficient writing and mathematical skills to prepare estimates and supply requisitions.
* Completion of a registered apprenticeship program, or an established, certified training program recognized by the University.
* Possession of a State of Michigan Plumbing license.

Independently performs preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and services on various plumbing systems. Participates in the overall building management program to provide high quality, cost effective service with a high emphasis on customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
* Communicates and collaborates with the supervisor, customer, and other trades and sub-contractors to ensure quality, timely, cost effective maintenance with continuity and coordination of services.
* Performs comprehensive plumbing maintenance including the assembly, installation, and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures for systems such as heating, cooling, water, sprinkler, drainage and sanitary systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Measures, cuts, threads and installs pipes and fittings using hand and power tools.
* Documents procedures and work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
* Ensures proper care, maintenance and safe use of equipment and supplies and keep work areas orderly, clean and safe.
* Performs plumbing construction work including layout, demolition and construction of all types of plumbing systems.
* Ensures that all plumbing services are provided in accordance with legal specifications, plumbing codes, organizational policy, and compliance requirements.
* Plans and coordinates work flow with other trades and acts as resource related to plumbing systems.
Qualifications
Required
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* 2 years of relevant experience
* Driver's License State of Michigan
* Plumber State of Michigan
* CRT-Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) - ASSE 5110 180 Days
* CRT-Medical Gas Systems Maintenance Personnel certification 180 Days
