We currently seek a Optical Fiber Research Intern to help support Lightera Laboratories in our Somerset, NJ location. Lightera Laboratories is pursuing new product development in fiber optics for sensing and medical devices. As part of this work, characterization of next generation fiber optics is required. Lightera Laboratories is seeking a summer intern interested in a mix of hands-on lab work, lab automation, and data analysis. The intern will assist Lightera Laboratories researchers in designing and testing next generation fiber optic components. The successful intern candidate will have demonstrated solid analytical abilities, initiative, and hands on experience in courses or other lab settings. The operation team is responsible for the safe, efficient operation of the boiler steam generation, turbine-generators, demineralized water, compressed air systems, along with all the auxiliary equipment associated with these systems. RED is also currently involved in the design, specification, and refurbishment of a used, GE Frame 6 Gas Turbine Generator Unit, and Heat Recovery Steam Generator to increase EBP's generation capacity. Perform routine boiler room, refrigeration and water treatment systems equipment inspections and performance including documentation of operational data, checking, and adjustment of controls on equipment as necessary. Qualifications: Currently majoring in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Power Systems Operations, Thermodynamics, or related field. Eagerness to contribute to our team-oriented environment. Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license.
