Strong preference for all onsite services.
No call. However, on very rare occasion the locums may get a call re: a patient who has a reaction to a medication or something like that. In such a rare case, the locums doctor will be paid for their time at the regular hourly rate. For the majority of after hours calls, they have a medical director who takes them and an after-hours protocol.
Their E.H.R. for these programs is called NextGen.
Board Certification is required.
Credentialing can be done very quickly, within a week or two.

The Practice
Mercy General Hospital - Sacramento, California
A not-for-profit 342-bed hospital and part of Dignity Health, the largest hospital provider in California.
Anesthesia Care Team model with medical direction.
Schedule is Monday through Friday, 0700-1500 with opportunity for overtime.
No call, no weekends, no holidays.
Busy outpatient center with approximately 500 cases/month, 6 ORs, 1 GI room.
Great variety of cases, including orthopedics, complex ENT, podiatry, otolaryngology, reconstructive plastics, gynecology, cataracts and retina, general surgery, and interventional GI procedures.
Surgery center is attached to the main hospital, so we routinely do ASA 3 & 4 patients with the ability to admit overnight as needed. Occasional healthy pediatric patients for outpatient procedures.
Emergency Medicine services are also provided by Vituity partners, providing ease of communication and support between departments.

Responsibilities
Diagnose mental health disorders by conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations.
Create personalized treatment plans for patients that may involve a combination of psychotherapy, medications, interventional therapies, and lifestyle modifications.
Deliver and supervise interventional treatments including TMS, Esketamine (Spravato), and Ketamine Infusion Therapy and work closely with an experienced clinical leadership team that has been applying innovative treatment protocols for years supported by positive patient outcome data.
Monitor the effects of interventional treatment to assess a patient's response, adjust treatment parameters when applicable, and determine the need for changes to the overall treatment strategy.
Track patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on the patient's response to various therapeutic options.
Educate patients and their families about the nature of their mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies to manage symptoms.
Manage crises that may arise in their patients' mental health.

Job Description:

Requirements
Job Qualifications:
Completion of a psychiatric residency or a family medicine/psychiatry residency in an approved residency program
Current BC/BE in Psychiatry (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry)
Valid state medical license as MD or DO
Valid DEA certificate
5 years' experience working full-time as a psychiatrist in child/adult psychiatry
Current BLS and/or ACLS

Responsibilities
Diagnose mental health disorders by conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations.
Create personalized treatment plans for patients that may involve a combination of psychotherapy, medications, interventional therapies, and lifestyle modifications.
Deliver and supervise interventional treatments including TMS, Esketamine (Spravato), and Ketamine Infusion Therapy and work closely with an experienced clinical leadership team that has been applying innovative treatment protocols for years supported by positive patient outcome data.
Monitor the effects of interventional treatment to assess a patient's response, adjust treatment parameters when applicable, and determine the need for changes to the overall treatment strategy.
Track patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on the patient's response to various therapeutic options.
Educate patients and their families about the nature of their mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies to manage symptoms.
Manage crises that may arise in their patients' mental health.
Coordinate patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, and therapists.
Document and maintain updated medical records, including diagnosis, treatment plans, progress notes, medications prescribed, and other relevant patient information.
Analyze patient outcome data to contribute to research and advance our understanding of and effectiveness of interventional treatments.
Participate in continuing education activities with talented colleagues and regularly review new scientific literature to stay current with the latest interventional psychiatry research, treatment methodologies, and ethical standards.
