Functions under the direction of the Chief Technologist and Vascular Institute Manager. The interventional special procedures technologist assists with providing safe, age appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures. He/she is responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The technologist is able to independently perform job functions. He/she sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure. Able to perform procedures in both the IR, Vascular Hybrid and Neuro‐interventional setting.

Clinical Skills * Completion of VI competencies * Able to use critical thinking skills * Work in conjunction with radiologists/ vascular surgeons/ cardiologists * Preps the patient for procedure * Demonstrates and understands sterile technique * Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedure * Enters appropriate charges for supplies and procedure(SIM CODES) Job Responsibilities * Must be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs * Able to work scheduled and On‐Call * Knows existing lines of communication and authority * Handles communications properly * Introduces self to patient and/or guardian utilizing proper scripting ie. AIDET * Transports patients as needed * Provides privacy and comfort for patient/customers * Assists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and performance Improvement * Completes necessary paperwork * Answers departmental phone using proper scripting * Maintains stock levels and outdates * Maintain current License and BLS certifications * Assist in in service/training for other medical imaging staff as appropriate * Works as a team with other VI staff to obtain the best possible outcome * Performs any other duties as needed when asks by leadership Quality and Patient Safety * Verifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, ie. Summary:
The Radiologic Technologist performs advanced imaging procedures using radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images that aid physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. They ensure patient safety, maintain equipment functionality, and collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver accurate and effective diagnostic results.
Essential Work Functions:
Educate patients about imaging procedures and answer questions if they arise
Prepare and operate advanced radiologic equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images according to physician orders
Maintain equipment and sterilize the room in which procedure takes place
Evaluate images for quality, present images and preliminary findings to physicians and health care team
Maintain and inspect imaging equipment for proper functionality, troubleshooting issues and reporting malfunctions as needed
Document all imaging procedures and technical details accurately in patient records
Follow hospital safety rules and procedures including infection control and radiation safety protocols
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of Radiologic Technologist practice
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipmentlbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
