The Registered Dietitian will provide and direct dietary services to people with intellectual disabilities to include assessment and treatment, development and implementation, and related professional in-services. Work as an interdisciplinary team member to implement support plans that facilitate people in reaching their full potential. Comply with all Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) regulations. Provide critical competency based teaching to care givers and management staff to facilitate continuity of care.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Flexible hours to be consistent with providing support to individuals in their natural environments: home, day program, school, and community. The teams follows the ICF/IID calendar.
Participate as a member of the Physical and Nutritional Management Team in such a manner as to promote the effectiveness of the Team to meet its stated mission. Interact with the PNM Team members in such a manner as to enhance the professional development of self and other team members.
Act as an advocate for the health, safety, and quality of life for all ICF individuals as a member of their Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
Function as a member of the comprehensive assessment process providing data collection analysis and functional recommendations for individuals, and maintain appropriate documentation of follow through on recommended actions.
Provide detailed nutritional assessment for individuals living in the ICF/IID group homes.
Monitor and evaluate ongoing nutritional status, and maintain adequate documentation and paperwork.
Develop nutrition guidelines for modified diets.
Provide in-services and counseling to the support staff, the individual, the family, and other supports to coordinate the medical nutrition therapy needs into their everyday life and ensure the person receives correct therapeutic diet and texture to meet health needs.
Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all in-services, competency check-offs, and progress notes.
Provide written information about individuals, referencing plans and guidelines, to the ICF QIDP for inclusion in the ISP.
Review draft (if applicable) for correct information. Review final document for correct information, and provide written corrections to the QIDP.
Provide food service support for group homes, including education and in-service training, menu development, shopping, food preparation, recipe modification, food safety, and other ICF requirements.
Order and maintain the inventory of supplements and thick-it for individuals in the ICF homes.
Assist in instruction of Mealtime Challenges Classes with other qualified instructors.
Participate in continuing education to further professional skills related to nutrition practice in the field of developmental disabilities.

Qualifications
Qualifications
Education: B.S. in Nutrition or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
Professional Skills: Registered Dietician and licensed in Tennessee. Able to function independently and as a team member. Able to teach and train in a variety of settings, and to people with a variety of educational backgrounds and literacy levels. Able to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
Physical Requirements: Health must be adequate to allow for efficient accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities. Physical examination required prior to employment by a physician approved by Orange Grove Center. Should be able to life 50 lbs.
Supervisory Structure: Reports directly to ICF/IID Assistant Director of Compliance.
Job Requirements: 90-Day Evaluation Period. All Orange Grove Center required training and orientation.

Responsibilities
Assess the clinical nutrition needs of residents/patients and develop and document the plan within the electronic medical record.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on clinical findings, lab results, weight trends, intake, and comorbidities
Provide nutrition education and counseling to residents/patients, families, and staff.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to determine a plan of care that improves residents'/patients' overall health and well-being.
Ensure adherence to CMS, State, and Federal regulations and company standards.
Provide coverage in multiple buildings based on company needs, and as desired.

Qualifications
Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. **
Hold a Certification/License in good standing within the state of practice.
Knowledge of the state survey process and compliance with nutrition care regulations (preferred, but not required).
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Maintain a positive attitude and effectively communicate with building occupants, administration, and HCSG leadership to perform daily tasks.
Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies as required by state, local, and/or customers.
If multi-site registered dietitian, must have valid Driver's License

This includes participating in test trays, menu reviews, periodic auditing of trayline for accuracy of diet orders, validating menu compliance with the facility Diet Manual Handbook and Nutrition Care Manual (NCM), supporting with patient interactive positions (i.e. dietitians, diet clerks, interns, etc.), maintaining communication with patients, staff, and guests and providing excellent customer service. Participates in peer reviews and chart audits, and collaborates in Diet Manual Handbook training for all clinical staff (new registered dietitians, nurses, therapists, physicians, etc.), including how to access it in hard and soft copy.

4. Collaborates with the Food and Nutrition Services team to enhance patient experience. This position serves as the co-coordinator of the C-HEAL program and performs job tasks related to accreditation.
This position is Monday-Friday, no weekends or holidays, and is open to new graduates or experienced dietitians.

What You'll Do
Perform comprehensive nutrition evaluations and consultations to pediatric patients and their families using motivational interviewing and counselling skills
Assist with program development, promotion/marketing, screenings, and patient recruitment
Assists with departmental program evaluation and outcome measurement activities
Provide education on healthy eating, physical activity, diabetes and hyperlipidemia
Update and create educational handouts

What You Bring
Registered Dietitian or eligible, with experience or a strong interest in working with pediatric patients
Have the ability to creatively problem-solve and make decisions while working independently within a team-oriented work environment
Excellent interpersonal communication skills to interact with a wide variety of individuals and groups

Communicate with and counsel patients per physician orders and diet instruction.
Communicate with physicians and other involved disciplines in patient care.
Evaluate referral orders to determine adequacy of nutrition intake methods.
Document pertinent information in the patient's medical record according to established standards.
Implement nutritional care plans, adapt menus, and assist patients with special dietary needs.
Conduct calorie counts and make appropriate recommendations.
Review, revise, and sign off menus for nutritional adequacy.
Qualifications
Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association
State licensure required.
Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred.
Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution with a major in Food & Nutrition.
One year of Clinical Dietetics experience preferred.
