Responsibilities
Provide medical nutrition therapy and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.
Assess patients for nutritional status. Provide interventions/treatments including diet therapy, counseling or specialized nutrition supplements.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing and ancillary services such as speech pathology or physical therapy.
Monitor tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimen and recommend therapy adjustments as necessary. Provide medical nutrition therapy and evaluate effectiveness of treatments.
Provide nutrition information for the community that may include public speaking, news releases and other forms of publications.
Research and take initiatives to resolve nutrition care related complaints and problems.
Assist in monitoring meals including intake, diet compliance and tray accuracy. Maintain sanitation of food preparation area(s) through planned and unannounced inspections.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
* Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
* High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Additional Preferences
Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition preferred
Experience with nutrition support (EN & TPN) and pediatrics preferred
3-5 years of pediatrics experience ideal, open to adult care experience
RegisteredDietitian with inpatient/outpatient pediatric experience preferred

2. Develop and monitor enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support regimens in conjunction with pharmacy and the medical staff.
3. Collaborates with Speech Therapy regarding diet progression and transitional feeding to meet nutritional needs
4. Clarify admission orders to ensure nutrition support, diet and oral supplement orders are consistent with the facility's established nutrition support formulary and diet manual.
5. Serve as a resource to food service staff to assure the patient care plan is implemented. Advises food production staff regarding any special preparation techniques to be used for modified diets.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
