This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. Essential Responsibilities: • Apply knowledge, methodologies, and principles of safety engineering as defined in MIL-STD-882E and Software Safety engineering as defined in the Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH) • Evaluate product systems, associated support equipment, functional specifications and operations to establish safety criteria for assigned systems • Independently analyze system design, equipment, and procedures for hazards and categorize hazard risks in accordance with MIL_STD-882E. • Assess implementations for hazard and causal factors to satisfy critical system safety objectives • Collaborate with various design teams in the execution of various MIL-STD-882E hazard analyses • Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation for system safety and in support of Airworthiness Certification IAW MIL-HDBK-516 • Review Test Plans and Procedures for safety requirements verification and potential hazardous operations • Perform hardware/ software safety analyses (Experience in AGILE development) Basic Qualifications: • Principal Software System Safety Engineer: Bachelor of science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years of military/professional experience OR Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of military/professional experience OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of military/professional experience. • Senior Principal Software System Safety Engineer: Bachelor of science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline with 8 years of military/professional experience OR Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of military/professional experience or a PhD is a STEM discipline and 4 years of military/professional experience • Must have a DoD Secret clearance to apply with the ability to obtain and maintain an interim Top Secret prior to starting. Must be able to obtain Top Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance. Will consider additional degrees with accompanied technical leadership experience. * Ten years of work experience preferred. Security+ certifications are required or must be completed within six months of hire. Preferred Experience/Qualifications * Experience with Ansible (or similar) infrastructure automation to deploy and configure standard baselines for physical devices and in a virtual environment (VMware and Linux). * Utilize scripting for automating tasks, administration, data collection and reporting. This job requires the ability to write, test, debug, deploy, and maintain scripts. * Ability to audit and report system and performance logs. * Ability to automate, administer and maintain the environment through configuration management, version control, and backups with the use of scripting. * Ability to respond professionally, effectively, and efficiently to service requests. * Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands. * Ability to research and/or implement new technologies. * Effective interpersonal and communications skills. * Professionally convey system-wide performance information routinely via tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc. * Train others to perform similar design and administrative tasks. * Interact with vendors/users/customers and developers to understand needs and operational requirements that will impact development and testing activities. * Examine any relevant change implementation, then report the changes to developers and testers welcoming feedback for future improvements. * Ability to solve technical problems involving a variety of integrated software and hardware platforms. * Knowledge of or experience with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or similar best practices and security guidelines. * Ability to assist others with getting certifications, such as providing guidance, mentoring, sandboxes, or cooperation.
