As an R&D Manager Semiconductor Systems, you will lead and support research and development activities focused on semiconductor related gas systems, testing platforms, and advanced process gas technologies. This role combines hands on technical leadership with strategic planning, experimental design, and resource management to enable effective semiconductor focused testing and development. You will work closely with internal R&D, Process Engineering, and Controls teams to design experiments, evaluate equipment and systems, and mature new technologies from concept through validated performance.
Responsibilities Include:
Lead semiconductor focused R&D initiatives related to process gas delivery, gas monitoring, purification, and scrubbing technologies.
Support the design, build, and operation of laboratory and pilot scale test systems for semiconductor gas applications.
Define experimental objectives, test plans, and validation strategies for semiconductor related testing activities.
Manage laboratory resources, equipment utilization, and testing schedules to ensure efficient execution of R&D programs.
Collaborate with internal R&D and Process Engineering teams to evaluate equipment specifications, system designs, and performance data.
Support technical evaluations of process equipment, including gas analyzers, flow meters, compressors, pumps, valves, purification modules, and associated instrumentation.
Coordinate with equipment vendors to review technical documentation, evaluate system capabilities, and support equipment selection and integration.
Maintain clear, accurate, and well organized technical documentation, including test protocols, experimental results, specifications, and design records.
Participate in technical reviews, root cause analyses, and data driven decision making to guide development priorities.
Travel to customer or vendor sites as needed for testing support, equipment evaluation, or technical coordination.
Occasionally lift and or move up to 40 pounds.
Strong Candidates Will Have:
PhD, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
More than five years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with hands on involvement in process gas systems, gas scrubbing, gas monitoring, or related technologies.
Strong understanding of semiconductor process gas requirements, contamination control, and system reliability considerations.
Experience designing and executing laboratory or pilot scale experiments for gas or semiconductor related systems.
Ability to interpret and evaluate P&IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment specifications, and technical drawings.
Demonstrated ability to manage technical resources, testing priorities, and complex development activities.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret experimental data and translate results into actionable insights.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and present technical information.
Detail oriented and structured approach to experimental design, documentation, and process improvement.
Experience with cryogenic systems, inert gas handling, or high purity gas applications is a plus.

The Wound Closure & Healing and Biosurgery R&D Organization in Raritan, NJ, is recruiting for R&D Co-ops and interns. Wound Closure & Healing and Biosurgery (WCHB) are a part of the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery organization.
The MedTech Organization, based in Raritan, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and effectiveness of open surgery. The MedTech Organization offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies including- sutures, hemostasis products, surgical staplers, trocars, energy devices and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of minimally-invasive and open surgical procedures. This position will support the Systems Pharmacology and Biomarkers Rheumatoid Arthritis lab-based group to assist with pharmacodynamic assay development for phase 1 clinical studies and sample processing and analysis for larger phase 3 clinical studies. The qualified candidate will perform high-throughput RNA isolation and associated QC procedures from a variety of clinical sample types as well as perform protein assays on clinical samples. They will also develop and execute cell-based assays to generate gene signatures of inflammatory disease pathways and use flow cytometry techniques to determine responses in individual cell types. The successful candidate must be able to work in a project-focused, matrixed team environment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for data analysis and interpretation using various computer programs, including MS Excel, GraphPad, etc, and have experience managing large sample libraries and data sets. The candidate must maintain a record of studies in the form of electronic notebooks, technical reports, summaries, and protocols. They will assist in maintaining laboratory instruments and supplies in a clean and safe laboratory environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Core Responsibilities)
• State-of-the-art knowledge in molecular and cellular biology is essential.
• Experience with the following techniques is required: ELISA (including MSD, Luminex, R&D Systems, etc), RNA isolation, Taqman qPCR, mammalian cell culture, and flow cytometry.
• Familiarity with proper Biosafety procedures for working with human samples is essential.
• Experience performing high-throughput analysis of human samples, including the use of laboratory automation is preferred.
• Must be highly organized and capable of handling several projects simultaneously.
• Good interpersonal communication skills needed. It is essential that candidate be self-motivated, productive and have excellent computer, communication, and scientific problem solving skills. Qualified candidates must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Essential Responsibilities:
Set up, run, and monitor 3D printer; manage the print queue based on project priorities and deadlines.
Maintain adequate supplies and materials for 3D printing and lab operations; place orders or flag shortages as needed.
Perform basic 3D printer maintenance and troubleshoot printing issues.
Operate thermoforming and vacuum forming lab equipment to produce sample parts.
Trim sample parts with clicker press or other hand methods.
Inspect prototype parts for visual quality, dimensional accuracy, and overall performance.
Record process parameters and measurements during prototyping to support repeatability and documentation.
Maintain a clean, organized, lab space with well-labeled materials, parts, and tools.

Essential Skills:

Experience operating or maintaining 3D printers (FDM preferred) is a strong plus.

+ Provide technical support for experimental activities, product development, and application development.
+ Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation; develop methods of analysis and report results.
+ Ensure laboratory safety and maintain compliance with all site and departmental safety programs.
+ Manage inventories of consumables, chemicals, and supplies.
+ Communicate issues promptly to enable quick resolution and actively participate in team meetings focused on safety, process improvement, and problem-solving.
Required Qualifications:
+ A High school Diploma/GED equivalent AND 5 years of relevant work experience OR An Associate's Degree or higher (or higher) (Applied Science in a relevant field i.e., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology preferred) OR 3 years relevant military training experience
+ Experience in a laboratory setting (industrial or academic)
+ Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills
+ Must be able to work successfully in a team environment
+ Must be able to work with and take direction from multiple scientists
+ A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Materials Science (strongly preferred)
+ Hands-on experience with Gas Chromatography, HPLC, and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).
+ Knowledge of polymers and coating materials.
+ Experience troubleshooting and maintaining analytical instruments.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn new software quickly.
+ Strong laboratory skills, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements:
