Responsibilities
Interns spend most of their time conducting field and lab work. Responsibilities vary throughout the year, with a heavier emphasis on field work in the summer and fall and more lab work and maintenance in the winter. Interns typically perform the following tasks under the supervision of research technicians:
Collect and process soil, plant, insect, grain, and produce samples using industry-standard protocols.
Conduct soil analyses including bulk density, compaction, infiltration, etc.
Conduct plant analyses including weed identification, stand counts, vegetable system pest scouting, etc.
Lay out experimental field plots using GPS mapping, in-field measurements, and flagging.
Assist with greenhouse seeding/transplanting and in-field transplanting.
Tend and maintain field, greenhouse, and/or high tunnel experiments (using hand tools, weedwhackers, mowers, occasional weekend watering, etc.).
Enter data precisely and in a timely manner for statistical analysis and interpretation.
Complete and present an individual research project. Interns will work in conjunction with the project Principal Investigator on data analysis and presentation.

Interns spend most of their time conducting field and lab work. * Blood collection from multiple vessels or cardiac, and perfusions

Job Qualifications
To qualify for this role candidates must have one of the following combinations of education/experience:
* B.S./B.A. degree in Biological Sciences or related field, or Associate's degree in veterinary technology or equivalent college level program and 4 years of previous laboratory animal research experience, using the skills listed above.
OR
* High School Diploma and at least 6 years of previous laboratory animal research experience, with 3 years using skills listed above.
Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification preferred but not required.
The pay range for this position is $37.50 to $39.00 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

The qualified candidate will perform high-throughput RNA isolation and associated QC procedures from a variety of clinical sample types as well as perform protein assays on clinical samples. The successful candidate must be able to work in a project-focused, matrixed team environment. The candidate must maintain a record of studies in the form of electronic notebooks, technical reports, summaries, and protocols. They will assist in maintaining laboratory instruments and supplies in a clean and safe laboratory environment.
