The work will be conducted in the research group Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI), which is internationally renowned for its leading role in the area of cybersecurity, intelligence and autonomous systems for time- and mission-critical industrial applications. The candidate will actively collaborate with other researchers within the research group at Virginia Tech, as well as with our external collaborators in academia, government, and industry. This is a unique opportunity for students interested in developing and leveraging their hands-on experience. The employee will be part of CCI's proficient and motivated xG Testbed research team, led by Dr. Aloizio DaSilva, in order to carry out cutting edge and impactful work in the following topics: traditional computer network stack, wireless network infrastructure, and Software Defined Radio for cellular communication networks. The duties include supporting the proof-of-concept development, administering laboratory inventory on a daily basis, configuring and deploying software and hardware, maintaining and developing new functionalities on the CCI xG Testbed webpage.     Job Description The Business Process Reengineering and Operations Research & Systems Analysis (ORSA) Specialist is a critical advisor and subject matter expert who leverages expertise in both process improvement methodologies and ORSA to optimize DASADEC's operations and strategic decision-making within the Army Security Assistance Enterprise (ASAE). This role focuses on driving efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness in support of U.S. Army Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Security Cooperation programs. Execute FMS Performance Reviews: Conduct recurring FMS performance reports, prepare for and manage recurring performance review forums, and conduct root cause analysis deep dive analytics to diagnose key drivers of performance challenges Provide Data-Driven Recommendations: Present findings and recommendations based on ORSA analyses to senior leadership, providing actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making related to security cooperation programs. Stay Abreast of ORSA Advancements: Continuously research and remain current on the latest developments in ORSA methodologies, tools, and technologies to ensure the application of cutting-edge techniques within DASADEC. Advisory and Consultative Role: Advise Senior Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to high-level managers within DASADEC, providing expert guidance on the application of quantitative approaches to solve complex problems and improve decision-making. Consult with Internal Stakeholders: Act as a consultant to various branches and directorates within DASADEC, offering expertise in process improvement, data analysis, and ORSA to support their specific needs. About FDD's Internship Program The Foundation for Defense of Democracies offers a variety of internship opportunities designed to provide meaningful professional development.
