As a relief staff, you will gain valuable experience and training in a variety of positions and be exposed to working with a diverse population of individuals in different settings. 988 Suicide & Lifeline Program Overview 988 Crisis Call Specialist's receive calls from individuals experiencing emotional distress, suicidal/homicidal ideation, substance use/mental health crisis's 24/7. Upon completion of training, call specialists engage with callers, provide emotional support empowering them to use their own strengths and coping mechanisms. Call specialists complete risk assessments, safety plans, dispatch interventions as needed, conduct follow-ups and offer resources.
