The Quantum AI for Bio (QAI4Bio) Lab led by Dr. Christoph Gorgulla in the Center of Excellence for Data-Driven Discovery in the Structural Biology Department, seeks a skilled and highly motivated student intern in deep learning research/engineering for problems in the life sciences (chemistry, biology, drug discovery). Our research group is focused on developing state-of-the-art computational methods for ligand/drug discovery, using machine learning, high-performance/cloud computing, and quantum chemistry and quantum computing. Our group also includes a wet lab dedicated to experimentally verifying the computationally predicted results in real-world drug discovery projects.
We are seeking a highly motivated student intern with deep expertise in machine learning and deep learning. You will join an interdisciplinary team to push the boundaries of what's possible at the intersection of artificial intelligence and molecular modeling.

Design, implement, and optimize novel deep learning architectures for applications in drug discovery, biology, or quantum chemistry.

Experience with various deep learning architectures (e.g., GNNs, CNNs, Transformers, Diffusion Models).
Excellent programming skills in Python.
A degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Familiarity with molecular modeling software (e.g., RDKit, OpenBabel) and/or structural biology concepts is desirable, but not required.

What You'll Do:

The MLT, Intern evaluates specimens for acceptability for proper testing; and performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures. He/She verifies accuracy of results before reporting; reports test results in a timely manner and according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.
The Medical Laboratory Technician, Intern performs needed maintenance and calibration on instruments and equipment as appropriate; troubleshoots instruments, equipment, reagents, and patient specimens when problems occur. He/She complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions, safety procedures, and exposure control/plans for blood borne and airborne pathogens. The MLT, Intern performs phlebotomy (venipunctures, finger sticks, bleeding times) as appropriate for the patient requiring this procedure. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Job Description
The Mental Health/Social Work Intern's role is to provide quality care and support to clients and families receiving Skill Sprout services as well as assist in projects and tasks aimed at growing Skill Sprout's innovative therapy programs. • Provide therapy services with Skill Sprout clients within the mental health department, which may include social skills treatment and/or individual, family and group counseling, and/or within the ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Program
• Conduct diagnostic clinical intake interviews with clients at the time of the initial service delivery, as needed
• Prepare treatment materials as directed by Consultants
• Assist with training new therapy staff
• Accurately and reliably collect data in therapy sessions as outlined by program procedure
• Provide clinical case coordination services and case management duties, as assigned
• Conduct diagnostic services, such as free screenings and/or mental health assessments, as assigned
