Purpose of Position:
Maintains University Grounds and Landscaping
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Must possess a general knowledge of flowers, shrubs, and trees commonly grown in.
● California and possess the knowledge and ability to maintain plant material and turf in a neat and orderly condition.
● Recognizes plant diseases, pests, and general conditions of plant life and performs methods to correct such conditions including the application of fertilizers and pesticides.
● Safely operates, cleans, and cares for hand and power tools, such as edger, blower, mower, chain saw, aerator, chipper, man lift, rot-o-tiller, vacuum, fork lift, hedge trimmer, and string edger.
● Possess a good understanding of the personal safety equipment required for each piece of equipment.
● Operates manual irrigation systems and performs minor irrigation repairs (including nozzle and head replacements).
● Landscaped areas, sidewalks, and parking lots are to be kept clean of debris and litter.
● Landscaped areas are to be kept free of weeds by means of herbicides and/or hand cultivation.
● Replaces damaged turf and plants.
● Transplants flowers, shrubs and trees.
● Installs soil amendments and header boards for new plantings.
● Makes recommendations for plant selections, maintenance methods and designs.
● Performs manual labor as required for various irrigation and landscape projects.
● Performs furniture moves and furniture deliveries, set-ups, and pick-ups for both indoor and outdoor events.
Qualifications:
● Four (4) years of experience in landscape, maintenance, and demonstrated skill in tasks described above are required.
● Must possess a valid California driver's license.
● Be able to pass a physical examination for pesticide respirator use.
● Preference will be given to applicants who have completed recognized courses in landscape
maintenance.
● Works under general supervision, and also, independently, as well as with the entire crew.
● Ability to follow job-related oral and written instructions in English and keep written records and perform simple computer data input.
● Ability to perform basic mathematics.
● Knowledge of relevant safety regulations is required.
● Ability to lift and move moderately heavy objects, up to 65 lbs. safely.

**Job Purpose**
Under general supervision, a Stanford University Department of Public Safety deputy sheriff provides all aspects of general law enforcement and public safety services to the community.
Principal duties include responding to emergencies, general and directed patrol, investigation of crimes and other non-criminal incidents, traffic / bicycle enforcement and control, assisting in crime prevention activities, and other law enforcement/public safety services and duties as required. A significant degree of initiative, independent judgment, and discretion is required of incumbents to develop, maintain, and successfully perform in a community oriented, problem solving approach to policing.
A Stanford Department of Public Safety deputy must possess, maintain proficiency, and exercise the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform law enforcement functions. The knowledge base and skills required for this position include, but are not limited to: an understanding of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations, including laws governing the apprehension, arrest, and custody of persons who are believed to have committed violations of the law; rules of evidence pertaining to search and seizure and preservation of evidence in traffic and criminal cases; techniques and applications of self- defense and proper use of force; operation and maintenance of police equipment (including, for example, a police radio system), vehicles and tools (including a variety of firearms) ; department policies and procedures; and institutional policies and procedures.
Deputies have the opportunity to participate in a number of assignments such as patrol, investigations, special events, traffic, K-9, off-road motorcycle / bicycle patrol, range master, field training officer, and various lead officer positions and potential promotional opportunities. Deputies will be assigned to rotate between units and / or other units, as appropriate, at the discretion of the Director of Public Safety.
During the course of their work, deputies will be exposed to potentially dangerous and adverse conditions. Deputies must be willing and able to work in emergency situations, confined spaces, and intense life-threatening conditions. Deputies will be exposed to persons whose actions may place them in harm's way. Deputies will be exposed to bodily fluids, fumes, moving objects, and noise. With eight Residential Learning Communities (RLCs) and one upper-division community, the Office of Residence Life employs nine Resident Directors (RDs). The Resident Director team is collectively called the Professional Staff.
Resident Directors work collaboratively as part of the Leadership Team to provide oversight for an assigned residential community ranging in size from 240 to 550 residents. The Leadership Team plays an integral role in facilitating the implementation of a residential program that reflects the Jesuit mission of the University, namely the development of the whole person, and promotes a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages the academic, social, and spiritual growth of each student. In addition, the Resident Director serves in a collaborative role with Residence Life staff, the Housing Office, the Office of Student Life, Campus Ministry, and other campus partners to further develop and strengthen the overall residential program.
The Leadership Team in each of our 8 Residential Learning Communities (RLC) includes a Resident Director, Faculty Director(s), Spirituality Facilitator(s), and Assistant Resident Director(s). These communities include Alpha, Cura, Cyphi, da Vinci, Loyola, Modern Perspectives, and Unity/Nobili Residence Hall. Each RLC is associated with a specific residence hall and organizes its community around one or two broad themes.
The Leadership Team in our one junior and senior community in University Villas, includes a Resident Director, Spirituality Facilitator and Assistant Resident Director. This community does not have an RLC component and focus their engagement and programming efforts on the upper-division student experience.
Due to the live-in nature and high visibility of the position, it is essential that Resident Directors model the values of a Jesuit, Catholic university and demonstrate the Department of Residence Life's commitment to the mission of Santa Clara University.
The Resident Director position is a full-time, 12-month, four-year fixed-term position ending December 31, 2029, and requires flexibility of work hours, including work performed on weekends and evenings.
B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & LEADERSHIP

Each of these approaches has the potential to generate large datasets that require computational analytic approaches.
