JOB REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Required: Sufficient driving experience to demonstrate the ability to become skilled at safely driving large vehicles, transporting large numbers of people, and transporting individuals with special physical needs.

Learn specific bus routes, complete scheduled routes in a timely manner, and adjust to periodic changes in schedules and routes. Recognize potential mechanical and safety equipment problems and to explain these problems to mechanics. Write legibly; and to make clear, brief, factual written and oral reports. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Ability to read and follow written direction as relates to performing this job.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position transports program children to and from home during school days and is a critical part of the team in maintaining the safety of the children and the continued growth and sustainability of Latino Network's early childhood programs. The bus driver will also on occasion transport parents and program children to the center's activities. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections for the operation of the bus, including all emergency equipment; record inspections on daily logs.
Maintain bus records, keep all mileage records, maintenance records, and gasoline purchases, and submit to Facilities Manager as required.
Bus maintenance will be scheduled and completed in collaboration with the IT/Facilities manager.
Ensure the bus has all required safety equipment on board, useable, and unobstructed.
Keep bus clean, free of debris and any safety hazards at all times. Conduct Emergency Evacuations at minimum three (3) times per year.
Provide School Bus and Pedestrian Safety training to children and parents within the first thirty (30) days of school.
Work with facilities manager to establish and maintain the most economical daily route. Ensure timely communication of any schedule adjustments/changes to parents and preschool director.
Maintain a current student roster including the child's name, address, and estimated time of pick-up/drop-off and name(s) of adults authorized to pick up children from the bus stop, and a map of the route in the bus and in the classroom for substitute drivers and classroom teachers.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date emergency contact information on all children in the program.
Ensure each child is released to the care of an authorized individual on the Permission to Release form.
Observe and report incidents of concern of children on the bus to the Preschool Director.
Report all accidents to the proper authorities per state requirements.
Assist with the required use of seat belts for all passengers, and ensure that all children are placed in appropriate height/weight child safety restraints.

Assists students and other passengers loading and unloading from buses in both emergency and normal transportation.
Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior.
Conducts emergency evacuation drills.
Drives school bus/s.
Fuels assigned vehicle.
Informs other school personnel, parents, etc. of events and/or practices.
Performs pre and post trip inspections to ensure safety of the bus.
Prepares documents and reports.
Reports observations and/or incidents according to policies and procedures.
Responds to inquiries from students, parents, other school personnel, etc.
Supervises students and other passengers during transit.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
High School Diploma
Knowledge of state and District transportation policy and procedures
Knowledge of safety practices and emergency evacuation procedures as related to transportation.
Ability to consistently lift 40 pounds.
Bus Driver's License and CDL
Clearance of a pre-employment drug screening.
Clearance of a pre-employment physical
Clearance of Criminal Justice Fingerprint and a Background check.

Abbreviated Duties List:
Child Safety & Supervision: Ride the bus daily, ensuring children are safely picked up, correctly fastened in their seats, and properly released to authorized guardians.
Positive Environment: Maintain a safe, healthy, and orderly environment on the bus, using developmentally appropriate guidance to create a positive atmosphere.
Family Connection: Interact with parents in a respectful and confidential manner, building a positive link between home and school.
