Minimum Qualifications:
* High school diploma.

* Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with schoolbus and passenger endorsements. Meets all prerequisite and ongoing qualifications to be covered by the district's insurance carrier.
* Satisfactory pre-employment and ongoing random drug/alcohol test results.
* Physical ability to safely lift and manage preschoolers and students with disabilities when necessary.
* Ability to cope with stressful traffic, weather conditions, and passenger distractions.
* Demonstrates maturity and the ability to work with students and their families.

* Provides dependable service. Maintains established routes and time schedules. Suggests route modifications that improve efficiency. Transports only authorized passengers. Reports road hazards or other problems that may interfere with pupil transportation services.
* Directs passenger loading/unloading. Operates the wheelchair lift. Checks seat belts. Secures wheelchairs and other assistance/mobility equipment before the bus starts. Reports unsafe or defective equipment.
* Communicates bus rules to students. Keeps supervisors informed about persistent behavior problems.
* Picks up and unloads students only at approved stops. Keeps route sheets up-to-date.
* Responds to student requests for assistance. Avoids being intrusive. Solves concerns discreetly.
* Provides assistance as needed when aware of passengers with medical/health considerations.
* Follows district field trip procedures. Remains available to staff/students during trips as instructed.
* Promotes the proper use, care, and security of school property. Reports discipline problems, vandalism, graffiti, equipment malfunctions, and other related concerns.

Driver Responsibilities

General Description: Provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy
the fullest possible advantage from the district's curricular and
extra-curricular programs.
Essential Functions:
Meet all requirements as outlined by the State of Ohio.
Know and obey traffic laws and regulations set forth in the OhioSchoolBus Operation Regulations manual.
Perform PTI prior to beginning route as dictated by Ohio laws.
Be the sole operator of the schoolbus.
Attend busdrivers' meetings in the district or county unless excused by administration.
Follow all rules set forth by the transportation office and approve by the Cloverleaf Board of Education.
Be responsible for fueling bus.
Be responsible for keeping his/her bus clean inside.
Be responsible for the orderly conduct of riders. Pupils on the bus are under the authority of, and directly responsible to, the driver.
Reports serious discipline problems to the transportation supervisor.
Deliver bus for servicing and repairs as directed by transportation supervisor and/or head mechanic.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a role model for students and staff in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
Help instill in students and staff the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
Conduct other related driver's duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor, assistant transportation supervisor, assistant superintendent and local superintendent and as permitted by the negotiated agreement.
Additional Working Conditions:
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
Occasional operation of a schoolbus under inclement weather conditions.
Occasional interaction among unruly children.

POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Public Safety Transportation Driver serves the various constituencies of Case Western Reserve University in a manner that is consistent with the educational philosophy and principles of the institution. Provide a safe and efficient transportation service for students and employees, incorporating safe ride and responsible transport programs, while serving as a secondary level of security for the Division of Public Safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Transport university passengers as dictated by the GPS software, during all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.); during off-season hours, and university holidays. Submit comprehensive written incident reports as assigned. Conduct both vehicle and foot patrols of the campus while on shift. Complete security checks of all assigned university facilities to ensure their integrity and the safety of their contents. Respond promptly and professionally to requests for assistance and emergencies. (80%)
* Serve as a security officer for public safety as instructed. Achieve and maintain all campus security requirements and training. Patrol campus areas in designated SafeRide vehicles. Enforce the rules, regulations and policies of the university, to maintain a peaceful and orderly academic environment. Conduct thorough security checks of all assigned facilities to ensure their integrity and the safety of their contents. Report any issues/concerns to management. Report any safety issues to dispatch and management. Serve as a Security Officer as needed. (10%)
* Help provide security coverage for university special events such as athletics or other events requiring coverage. (10%)
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Department: Daily communication with public safety dispatch via portable radio and telephone. Frequent contact with patrol officers to exchange information.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Prior security experience is preferred. Must pass a thorough background investigation including criminal history. Candidates will be required to undergo psychological screening, a physical agility skills assessment and drug screen.
Education/Licensing: High school education required, two-year degree in Law Enforcement/ Criminal Justice preferred. Possess and maintain a valid Ohio operator's license with no significant violations. Must be able to successfully receive Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certificate and maintain throughout tenure of employment.
REQUIRED SKILLS
* Possess the ability to interact in a sensitive, courteous and understanding manner with all members of the academic community with customer service skills.
* Good verbal and written communication and computer skills
* Must be familiar with and able to operate fire, security and communications equipment once trained.

Schedule appointments for repairs and maintenance as needed and notifying the facility if the bus/car will be out of operation.
Be extremely familiar with life safety and all operational systems of the facility vehicle.
The facility vehicle must be mechanically sound, safe, and well maintained. Interiors must be kept neat, and clean.
Other duties as assigned.
