As a Modeling Engineer, you will develop and refine advanced finite element models to support structural, thermal, and materials-focused analyses. You will run complex simulations, interpret results, and turn those insights into practical design guidance. You will collaborate with teams and material scientists to align modeling approaches with real-world testing, improve predictive accuracy, and influence product development. You will also apply optimization methods, support validation efforts, and give your findings through reports and presentations. Key Responsibilities Build and manage detailed finite element models for mechanics analysis and potentially heat conduction problems., components, and materials under static, dynamic, thermal, and nonlinear loading conditions. Perform linear/nonlinear structural, thermal, impact, and fatigue analyses using commercial FEA tools (e.g., ABAQUS, ANSYS, LS-DYNA, COMSOL). Interpret results to assess design performance, identify critical stress/strain locations, and recommend design improvements. Develop and calibrate constitutive models for metals, polymers, composites, or coatings based on experimental data. Apply Design of Experiments (DoE), parametric studies, and topology/shape optimization techniques to support customer product design. Collaborate with material scientists to design validation experiments, compare simulation predictions to physical test results, and refine models for improved accuracy and predictive power. Work with design, manufacturing, and product development teams to translate engineering insights into relevant design or process changes. Prepare technical documentation, analysis reports, and presentations summarizing modeling work. Qualifications A BS or MS degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related technical subject, with CAD and FEA course studies, hands-on experience with Abaqus or Ansys tools. 2 years+ validated, related experience. Record of accomplishments in mechanics analysis: coursework, projects, publications and conference presentations. Hands-on laboratory experience on mechanical experimental techniques. Proficiency in using commercial CAD tools. Willingness to work on-site in the Pittsburgh, PA area and periodically visit field or plant locations as needed; relocation support is available for exceptional candidates.

This is an exempt salary position where the employee is responsible for designing and estimating mechanical work projects within the Conveyors manufacturing group specializing in developing tailor-made, cost-effective analytical solutions for conveyor systems. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Receiving Requests for Quotes (RFQ) and developing accurate cost estimates and detailed drawings. * Develop and Update drawings using AutoCAD or Illustrator. * Analyze labor, material, equipment, time requirements, etc. through material take-offs of detailed drawings. * Interface with Corporate Purchasing Department for pricing to prepare detailed, organized estimates of costs. * Present prepared estimates by compiling numerical and descriptive information. * Prepare and submit required reports. * Perform any other related job duty as requested by executive or plant management to ensure timely, accurate project design and estimation. * Excellent benefits include medical with a standard PPO plan with deductibles as low as $1,500 and wellness credit up to $750; voluntary 401k plan currently matching up to 12%; voluntary dental and vision plans; free telemedicine services; basic life, long and short-term disability coverage.
