More than a hundred people showed up for that first meeting, and in 1997 Paul – along with Seattle business leaders Scott Oki, Ida Cole, Bill Neukom and, Doug and Maggie Walker – founded Social Venture Partners.
In 2001, in keeping with its overall mission, the Regional Business Council launched St Louis SVP to provide an innovative vehicle for philanthropy in St Louis.
Despite the recession of 2001, within six months 17 founding Partners had joined the affiliate, including Boyce and his wife, Lori.
In 2002, SVP hired its first full-time Executive Director to lead and provide structure to the nascent organization.
Partners serving on the child poverty-focused investment team in 2004 learned about the benefits of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the opportunity to ensure more eligible families in the region received the credit.
It was also in 2005 that the Partnership incubated an effort that would itself soon become a new nonprofit, CASH Oregon.
After being incubated by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation for ten years, SV2 became an independent 501(c)3 in 2008.
In November of 2010, Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region was founded by local venture capitalists Jacqui Murphy and Tim Jackson.
