The SpeechLanguagePathologist / SLP is responsible for the assessment of referred patients that require treatment for speech, hearing and or language deficits. The SpeechLanguagePathologist / SLP will teach patients how to make sounds, improve their voices, or increase their oral or written language skills to communicate more effectively. Also, the SpeechLanguagePathologist / SLP will teach individuals how to strengthen muscles or use compensatory strategies to swallow without choking or inhaling food or liquid.
Requirements include:
Must have graduated from an accredited school.
Current state license as a SpeechLanguagePathologist / SLP or proactively in the process of the application process for current state licensure as a SpeechLanguagePathologist / SLP.
Current CPR certification.
Work within an interdisciplinary team to develop a plan of care for each patient.
Provide skilled speech therapy services / interventions in accordance with physician orders.
Assesses patient needs, plans for, evaluates and modifies care to meet goals of speech therapy interventions.
Set realistic and achievable goals for patients to develop, or recover, reliable communication and swallowing skills so that the patient can fulfill their educational, vocational and social roles
Candidate must be an SLP-CCC.

Summary:

They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and caregivers to facilitate improved communication outcomes and overall quality of life.
Essential Work Functions:
Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observation to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a diverse patient population
Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings, patient goals, and evidence-based practices
Continuously assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain detailed, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on effective communication strategies, home-based exercises, and safe swallowing practices, while offering supportive counseling as required
Work in conjunction with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate a comprehensive approach to patient care
Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients' comfort needs during therapy sessions
Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in speechlanguage therapy
Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
Required Essential Skills:

The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
