Under the supervision of the Special Education Director and Regional Director, the Speech Language Pathologist provides speech, language, and hearing services that meet the educational needs of each student in the SLP's area of responsibility.
Serves as a Speech Language Pathologist to students from Preschool through High School Transitions. Evaluates needs of children within the educational system or school. Applies scientific principles in assessment of communication, language, speech, and hearing. Conducts case management and supervision of assignments. Attends school meetings and completes assessment reports. Provides specific disability area services related to speech and language, and special education services to individuals with language and speech impairments across the special education disability areas. Remediates language, speech and hearing impairments that interfere with the individual student's ability to benefit from the educational program.
Primary Responsibilities
Complete Evaluations in the areas of Speech, Language, Hearing and Communication, and other areas based on Student need.
Conduct data collection and analysis. Gather information through interviews, observations, and other meaningful practices to solicit relevant information regarding Student's overall Speech/Language functioning.
Progress monitoring, consultation and collaboration with school personnel and parents (Family-school-community collaboration).
Ability to understand and implement School and District-wide practices to promote learning
Knowledge of research-based and best practices of the following: Speech and Language Disorders, Communication Boards, Augmentative Communication, Non-oral Communication Systems.
Diagnose and assess students through the use of appropriate tests and informal measurements.
Participate in identification, screening, evaluation, and prepare reports and other required paperwork.
Facilitate enrollment and placement of students in speech and other appropriate Special Education programs.
Provide Speech Language therapy to remediate and reduce impairments that interfere with Student's educational program.
Provide diagnostic and treatment plans and services to students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Provide direct services for identified student aimed toward correction or improvement of the disability through implementation of the IEP.
Schedule identified students to receive individual or group therapy and/or classroom consultation.
Develop and implement an IEP for pupils with speech and language deficits that meet state criteria.
Conference and consult with parents, school site personnel and other support staff.
Special Education and General Education functions- attendance to IEPs, 504s, and other meetings (SLP responsibility and role which require meeting attendance)
Implement and support diversity in development and learning
Continuously promote research-based and best practices
Abide by Professional ethics, school law, and systems. Maintain Professional Competence.
Provide for student supervision which ensures student safety consistent with district and school expectations.
Completion of Satisfactory reports within mandated timelines and as requested by supervision.
Professional and meaningful presentation of assessment reports
Other duties may be assigned.

1. Administers diagnostic tests of articulation, language (including semantics, syntax, grammar, morphology and phonology), cognitive language, auditory perception, voice and stuttering.
2. Assists in evaluating the patient's communicative abilities by examining the peripheral speech related mechanisms for impairment of vital capacity and tidal air, respiratory control and coordination, laryngeal valving and phonatory function, pharyngeal and palatal activity, articulatory movement of the lips, tongue, jaws and palate; conducts audiological screenings.
3. Carries out treatment of communicative disorders using current principles, theories and practices, assists in the preparation of audio-visual aids for use with patients.
4. Counsels patients and relatives regarding problems resulting from communicative disorder; instructs patients and relatives in the principles of home treatment; assists in the supervision and training of student speech therapists, assists in acquainting other personnel with the principles and practices of speech therapy.
5. Employs the use of standard clinical equipment such as tape recorders, language master, portable audiometer, audio-visual equipment.
6. Keeps records of work performed and prepares reports on the patient's treatment and progress; attends inter-disciplinary staff conference to discuss the problems and progress of various patients.
7. Participates in ward rounds and in inter-disciplinary staff meetings for planning total patient care; serves as consultant in speech pathology and audiology to other disciplines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: possession of a Master's Degree or equivalent in Speech Pathology from a school approved by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Current licensure with the California Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Board. Possession of Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech, Language, Hearing Association. Speech Language Pathologists must have both a state license and their certificate of clinical competence from ASHA.
Pay Range: $68.35 - $85.38 / Hour

Responsibilities
Therapeutic Services
Deliver individualized and small-group speech and language therapy to students with IEPs across K-8.
Address a broad range of communication areas including:
Receptive and expressive language
Articulation and phonological processing
Fluency and voice
Social-pragmatic language and conversational skills
Design and implement Social Club programming for Autistic students using Social Thinking methodologies.
Assessment and Documentation
Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations, screenings, and assessments to identify communication disorders.
Develop, write, and update IEP goals and present levels of performance in collaboration with the IEP team.
Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records including session notes, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure therapy and documentation adhere to IDEA regulations and school policies.
Collaboration and Consultation
Provide support to general education and special education staff with classroom strategies and interventions for at-risk or struggling students.
Participate actively in student support meetings, IEP meetings, and family consultations.
Work closely with school leaders, teachers, and other specialists to ensure holistic support for students.
Professional Development & Growth
Attend and contribute to weekly team meetings and regular supervision with an experienced SLP team manager.
Participate in ongoing school-wide professional development sessions.
Engage with outside experts and Social Thinking consultants through monthly supervision and collaboration.
Take advantage of $250 CEU reimbursement and opportunities to supervise graduate-level SLP students.

Student Behavior Management - The SLP must be able to properly demonstrate and implement behavior management techniques when needed. This training is provided to all staff.
Office Work - This position requires that the SLP be able to conduct a variety of office work including typing on a computer.
