Duties Description Buffalo Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting an Speech Language Pathologist to provide speech therapy treatment services to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will work with individuals to achieve the best physical, cognitive, and mental functioning in daily life skills including:
* Conducting evaluations and assessments to determine individuals' capabilities and needs in areas of strength, functional mobility, and self-care skills
* Making recommendations on treatment based on evaluation results
* Observing and reporting individuals' progress, response, and behavior
* Supervising individual and group speech therapy activities
* Trains staff in choking prevention, dysphagia, aspiration, and communication.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Speech Language Pathologist if you are licensed and current registered as a Speech Language Pathologist in New York or are certified in Speech Language Pathology by ASHA..

Candidates within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is looking for licensed pediatric Speech Language Pathologists who are interested in picking up cases working with school-age students during the school day and/or after school hours. We have cases available throughout Western New York and services will occur in schools, homes, and/or other community locations. We pay:
* $42 per completed 30 minute session
* $63 per completed 45 minute session

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for young children with communication disorders. Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is looking for licensed pediatric Speech Language Pathologists who are interested in picking up cases working with school-age students during the school day and/or after school hours. We have cases available throughout Western New York and services will occur in schools, homes, and/or other community locations. We pay:
$42 per completed 30 minute session
$63 per completed 45 minute session
$84 per completed 60 minute session
The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for young children with communication disorders. In addition, responsibilities include the implementation of an appropriate Speech-Language Pathology treatment program designed to habilitate or rehabilitate the communicatively impaired child.
Essential Functions:
Display competence in the area of speech-language impairment (either licensed or under the careful direction & supervision of a licensed SLP). Determines type and severity of speech-language impairment, under careful supervision if unlicensed SLP. Determines prognosis and appropriate treatment for speech-language impairments.
Evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders. Working collaboratively with other professionals such as the classroom teacher, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, Audiologists, supervisors and other as appropriate.
Implementation of an appropriate Speech-Language Pathology treatment program
Submits written reports of the evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines. Ensures paperwork is completed in a timely and organized fashion
Makes appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results
Communicates regularly with family/client
Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and upgrades professional knowledge through involvement in continuing education programs. Participate in the delivery of and/or attend in-service programs. Participate in formal staff training. Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification

• Utilize Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP) procedures as applicable and necessary.

• Maintain a current inventory of all Beyond Support Network equipment and supplies in treatment rooms.
• Submit inventory annually upon request.

The Speech Language Pathologist will complete and provide proof of completion of The Early Intervention training PAPI - Parents as Primary Interventionists. Additionally the Speech Language Pathologist will and maintain an active Health Commerce Account, allowing access to NYSEIS. The Speech Language Pathologist is expected to work closely with the Evaluation Team and respond to the directives of the team supervisor and provide billing documentation to team supervisor as required.
