The Speech Therapist in Home Health is responsible for the assessment and evaluation of patient care needs related to treating speech and language disorders and functional training in communication, swallowing, and cognitive impairments.
Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by the state laws governing the practice of speech therapy, in accordance with the plan of care, and in coordination with other members of the health care team.
Evaluates the patient's level of function by applying diagnostic and prognostic functional ability tests. Assists the physician in the development of the therapy plan of care.
Treats patients to communicate effectively by expressing thoughts according to the patient's condition using acceptable standards of practice.
Instructs the patient, the family and/or caregiver and other members of the health care team in areas of speech therapy in which they can participate.

What You'll Do:

Minimum Requirements:
Able to commit to at least 15 hours per week
Hold an active, unrestricted, and valid SLP license in your state of residence and in Arkansas, in good standing
Hold CCCs: Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency
Full-time resident of the United States
School experience or experience working with school aged pediatric population
Experience and comfortability with the use of various types of technology
Follow Huddle Up documentation guidelines for evaluation reports and daily SOAP notes
Participate in IEP and team meetings, serve as a case manager or process coordinator
Prepare progress reports as requested by the school and complete medicaid billing if necessary
Compensation:
This is a W2 employment opportunity. The exact compensation band is based on where the provider resides. Compensation for providers living in CA, HI, and NY is $44-$54 an hour; AK, CO, CT, DC, DE, IL, IN, MA, MD, NJ, NM, OH, PA, RI, TX, VA, and WA is $44-$54 an hour; AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, KS, KY, MI, MN, MT, NC, NH, NV, OK, OR, SC, UT, WI, and WY is $44-$49 an hour; AL, ID, LA, ME, MO, MS, ND, NE, SD, TN, VT, and WV is $44-$47 an hour. This position also includes an opportunity to earn up to a $250 (up to $3,000 per year) monthly incentive for providers who work 60 hours or more in a pay period (approximately every 2 weeks) and meet other eligibility criteria. SUMMARY: The Speech Language Pathologist serves as a specialist to support students who are found eligible for speech/language special education services as defined by IDEA. The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating and identifying students with communication disorders that may include the areas of language, articulation, voice and fluency. The pathologist designs and implements specialized treatment/therapy plans for qualified students through direct and indirect support to minimize the adverse impact on the individual student's success in the general education curriculum and in the least restrictive environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Displays knowledge and understanding of District, State and Federal procedures, policies and regulations by adherence to requirements, maintaining confidentiality and completing student records and reports accurately and on time.
Assesses students' communication skills for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for therapy.

• Speech disorders occur when a person has difficulty producing speech sounds correctly or fluently (e.g., stuttering is a form of disfluency) or has problems with his or her voice or resonance.
• Language disorders occur when a person has trouble understanding others (receptive language), or sharing thoughts, ideas, and feelings (expressive language). Language disorders may be spoken or written and may involve the form (phonology, morphology, syntax), content (semantics), and/or use (pragmatics) of language in functional and socially appropriate ways.
• Social communication disorders occur when a person has trouble with the social use of verbal and nonverbal communication. These disorders may include problems (a) communicating for social purposes (e.g., greeting, commenting, asking questions), (b) talking in different ways to suit the listener and setting, and (c) following rules for conversation and story-telling. All individuals with autism spectrum disorder have social communication problems. Social communication disorders are also found individuals with other conditions, such as traumatic brain injury.
• Cognitive-communication disorders include problems organizing thoughts, paying attention, remembering, planning, and/or problem-solving. These disorders usually happen as a result of a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or dementia, although they can be congenital.
• Swallowing disorders (dysphagia) are feeding and swallowing difficulties, which may follow an illness, surgery, stroke, or injury.
Additionally, SLPs:
• Provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder or progressive neurological disorders.

Responsibilities
Therapeutic Services
Deliver individualized and small-group speech and language therapy to students with IEPs across K-8.
Address a broad range of communication areas including:
Receptive and expressive language
Articulation and phonological processing
Fluency and voice
Social-pragmatic language and conversational skills
Design and implement Social Club programming for Autistic students using Social Thinking methodologies.
Assessment and Documentation
Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations, screenings, and assessments to identify communication disorders.
Develop, write, and update IEP goals and present levels of performance in collaboration with the IEP team.
Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records including session notes, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure therapy and documentation adhere to IDEA regulations and school policies.
Collaboration and Consultation
Provide support to general education and special education staff with classroom strategies and interventions for at-risk or struggling students.
Participate actively in student support meetings, IEP meetings, and family consultations.
Work closely with school leaders, teachers, and other specialists to ensure holistic support for students.
Professional Development & Growth
Attend and contribute to weekly team meetings and regular supervision with an experienced SLP team manager.
Participate in ongoing school-wide professional development sessions.
Engage with outside experts and Social Thinking consultants through monthly supervision and collaboration.
Take advantage of $250 CEU reimbursement and opportunities to supervise graduate-level SLP students.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders
Valid state license or eligibility for licensure as an SLP
Clinical Fellows (CFs) encouraged to apply - high-quality supervision provided
Experience supporting school-aged students with disabilities, especially Autistic learners
Familiarity with Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking curriculum
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Bilingual proficiency (strongly preferred)
