The Surgical First Assistant is responsible for assisting the surgeon under direct and indirect supervision throughout preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative duties and procedures always. The surgical assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. Applying dressing material specific to procedure. Applies any other specific dressing material - splints or casts. Assesses skin integrity. Assists in transfer of the patient and follows the patient to recovery if needed or directed by surgeon. For the Surgical Assistant who has appropriate training also performs under surgeon supervision other procedures including but not limited to: graft and implant preparation. Performs additional duties as delegated by the surgeon in cooperation with state and local policy. Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and promotes privacy and dignity. Confirms that proper aseptic and sterile techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice. Assists in managing inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the areas assigned. Assists in keeping physician preference cards updated. Key Responsibilities: • Assists the surgical team during the operative procedure. • Knowledge of sterile technique and maintenance of sterility of surgical field. • Ability to circulate all operative cases independently. • Ability to care for patient in PACU in the immediate postoperative period. • Completes perioperative record accurately and completely. • Charges accurately for items used in the operating room. • Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment. • Assists the surgical team during operative procedures. • Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures. • Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies. Qualifications: Required: Graduate of an approved specific discipline OR successful completion of a surgical assistant training program during the applicant's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States. Required: Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience. Preferred Experience: plastics, ortho, general, weight loss. We are currently looking for a Registered Dental Assistant who combines strong clinical skills with a calm, compassionate presence. Responsibilities Provide chairside support to the Oral Surgeon during surgical and clinical procedures. Set up, break down, and maintain treatment rooms, ensuring instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and prepared. Take clear, diagnostic dental X-rays and assist with imaging needs. Collect, review, and document patient medical and dental histories accurately. Follow and uphold strict infection control and safety standards at all times. Assist patients before, during, and after procedures to promote comfort and reassurance. Deliver detailed post-operative instructions and address patient questions as appropriate. Document clinical notes, vitals, and surgical details within the practice management system. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all professional and ethical guidelines. Remain flexible and support front office operations when needed through cross-training. Requirements Graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting program and an active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license are required.
