SUMMARY
This contract System Administrator 3 position will work within Operational Infrastructure subgroup within Transmission Technology group in the Transmission Services business line. This division provides hardware maintenance lifecycle support for the corporate Control Center systems. This division also provides General Support System (GSS) infrastructure maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, emergency response, client support, system energization/acceptance testing, and performance analysis and trending
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Configuring applicable software and systems, maintaining local documentation, installing/updating/removing software, applying change control processes and procedures, planning and preparing for future growth, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and performing system-related training for the following systems:
Deploying virtual services using automation, i.e, Aria Automation, Terraform, Ansible.
Storage services, i.e. SAN, NAS & Virtual
Antivirus, antimalware, and malicious code prevention.
Software Defined Networking, i.e. VMWare NSX, Cisco ACI.
VMware Virtual Machine, Hypervisor Management and Infrastructure deployment.
Virtualization Management, (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, KVM).
Management of Windows Server & REHL operating systems
Cyber Vulnerability Assessment and Mitigation Research.
Patch Management in an enterprise environment.
Windows infrastructure, i.e. active directory, group policy, PKI, et al
Research, test and draft / document standardized technical procedures for the deployment of computer hardware and associated operating systems; organize, store and dispose of superseded documents in accordance with Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards.
Perform regular assessments of newly discovered vulnerabilities on a wide range of operational network devices, computer systems devices and various software packages.
Implement, design, and maintain least privileged and role-based access control models.
Research, test and document standardized technical procedures for the deployment of computer hardware and associated operating systems for final review and approval by the manager /staff.
Respond to client support issues utilizing change management software to process and complete the tasks necessary for resolution of technical client issues; unusually complex issues may include involvement of the appropriate manager or team lead.
Provide advice and recommendations for process / procedural changes that may become necessary due to system changes, upgrades, etc.
Provide input and recommendations to the manager, technical lead and staff
Support and assist the team lead and North American Electric Reliability Corporation - Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC-CIP) subject matter experts (SMEs) with implementing, analyzing, and reporting on the operational compliance of all Control Center cyber assets.
Develop, draft and recommend improvements to the Control Center's procedures and processes
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a directly related technical discipline is preferred.
With an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in applicable fields, 8 years of experience is required.
Without an applicable degree, 10 years of experience is required.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
2 years' experience with the following:
Working knowledge and experience sufficient to successfully support, troubleshoot and maintain a virtualized computer environment.
Working knowledge and experience sufficient to successfully support, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Windows infrastructure using active directory, group policy, Powershell, and other Windows utilities
Preferred Skills & Experience

Impact:
Architect and operationalize Spark at scale as a core component of Cisco Data Fabric, enabling customers to access and analyze exponentially more data across diverse organizational sources. Build resilient, always-on infrastructure with automatic retry logic, fault tolerance, and seamless integration across myriad data sources and formats including Parquet, Iceberg, and modern table formats. Design the operational backbone-monitoring, observability, error handling, and horizontal scalability-that enables hundreds of engineers to build features confidently on solid foundations. Establish architectural patterns and support mechanisms that ensure high availability while maintaining performance at petabyte scale. Success is measured by customer adoption of data fabric capabilities and operational reliability metrics-uptime, ingestion performance, and incident reduction-that directly impact customer value.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 15+ years of related experience; or Master's with 12+ years; or PhD with 8+ years or equivalent experience
* Designed and deployed production Spark deployments at scale in cloud environments
* Experience with modern data formats including Parquet, Iceberg, and related table/columnar formats
* Production experience with AWS cloud platform
* Led technical decisions and architectural direction across engineering organizations of 50+ engineers
Preferred Qualifications:
* Production experience with Azure and/or GCP cloud platforms
* Experience integrating with diverse data platforms such as Snowflake, Pinot, Databricks, Trino, or similar systems
* Extensive Kubernetes experience in production environments
* Proven track record mentoring and growing engineers, with strong collaboration skills across sponsors, design, product management, and engineering teams

The starting salary range posted for this position is $267,600.00 to $339,400.00 and reflects the projected salary range for new hires in this position in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including incentive compensation*, equity, or benefits.
Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. The full salary range for certain locations is listed below. U.S. employees are offered benefits, subject to Cisco's plan eligibility rules, which include medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Employees may be eligible to receive grants of Cisco restricted stock units, which vest following continued employment with Cisco for defined periods of time.
U.S. employees are eligible for paid time away as described below, subject to Cisco's policies:
* 10 paid holidays per full calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for non-exempt employees
* 1 paid day off for employee's birthday, paid year-end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness determined by Cisco
* Non-exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year, accrued at rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time employees
* Exempt employees participate in Cisco's flexible vacation time off program, which has no defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use (subject to availability and some business limitations)
* 80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, and up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward from one calendar year to the next
* Additional paid time away may be requested to deal with critical or emergency issues for family members
* Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer
For non-sales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco's policies.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
* .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
* 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
* 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and
* Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.

$273,200.00 - $442,600.00
Non-Metro New York state & Washington state:
$267,600.00 - $390,300.00
