A Taste of What You'll Be Doing
Utilize Your Specialized Skills - Perform work involving millwork, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical crafts to evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot buildings, systems, and equipment as assigned
Track Facility Needs - Responsible for identifying materials and equipment needed for work to be accomplished, and maintaining records of both materials and labor used on projects
Lead the Charge - Evaluate work orders to determine scope and work procedures necessary to perform job. Lead in the installation, maintenance, and repair of designated building systems while guiding other technicians in projects.
Safely Execute - Understanding, following, and enforcing all established safety, health, and quality procedures to drive forward production
Provide Top Notch Customer Service - Establishing rapport with business partners across the plant floor to solve problems with a strong sense of urgency
We're Looking for Someone With
High School Diploma/GED
Previous experience with facility maintenance
Knowledge of standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices in building maintenance crafts
Ability to use basic shop math applications
Ability to read, interpret, and work from rough sketches, blueprints, and drawings

The Cable Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems to support voice, data, video, and network communications. This role ensures all cabling infrastructure is installed to industry standards, project specifications, and customer requirements while maintaining safety and quality at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Cabling Work
Install, terminate, and test copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling systems.
Pull, label, route, and dress cables in commercial, industrial, and data center environments.
Install cable trays, J-hooks, ladder racks, racks, patch panels, and related infrastructure hardware.
Perform fiber splicing, connector installation, and end-to-end certification.
Install network equipment including switches, wireless access points, and telecom room hardware as directed.
Testing & Troubleshooting
Conduct continuity, performance, and certification testing using Fluke or similar testers.
Diagnose and resolve cable faults, signal loss, and connection issues.
Perform repairs and upgrades to existing cabling systems with minimal downtime.
Documentation & Compliance
Complete detailed daily job reports, cable logs, labeling documentation, and test results.
Ensure all cabling meets BICSI, NEC, and manufacturer standards.
Qualifications
1-3+ years of structured cabling or low-voltage installation experience preferred.
Knowledge of copper and fiber standards, cabling best practices, and industry tools.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and cable layouts.
Experience with cable testing equipment (Fluke DSX, OTDR, light meters).
Familiarity with LOTO, ladder safety, PPE, confined spaces, and general construction safety.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Network/Telecom Engineer to support public health infrastructure operations, including COVID and other infectious disease case investigation and contact tracing systems. The selected professional will work directly with full-time State employees to provide infrastructure and operations support for existing PHIN (Public Health Information Network) operations.
This is a hands-on technical role involving the design, maintenance, and administration of network and telecom systems, as well as support for critical Linux and Windows server environments.

Design and maintain both the hardware and software necessary for computer network operations.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Network/Telecom Engineer to support public health infrastructure operations, including COVID and other infectious disease case investigation and contact tracing systems. The selected professional will work directly with full-time State employees to provide infrastructure and operations support for existing PHIN (Public Health Information Network) operations.
This is a hands-on technical role involving the design, maintenance, and administration of network and telecom systems, as well as support for critical Linux and Windows server environments.
Responsibilities
Design and maintain both the hardware and software necessary for computer network operations.
Specialize in Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), TCP/IP, virtual machines, and/or server/network infrastructure.
Install, configure, and administer network routers and switches.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As a Fiber Optical Splicing Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fiber optic cabling infrastructure. This hybrid role combines the practical skills of an Intermediate Technician with the advanced expertise and leadership qualities of an Expert/Lead Technician. You will work within mission-critical environments, ensuring precision, documentation accuracy, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
This role involves extensive travel to client sites for fiber optic splicing and related fieldwork. Candidates must be comfortable working in various environments and traveling regularly.
This role requires 90% travel. Must be located near a major airport.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fibers, including ribbon fiber splicing.
Prepare and terminate fiber optic cables using industry-standard methods and tools.
Install and manage fiber in various environments including ODFs, splice trays, enclosures, and patch panels.
Conduct cable preparation including stripping, cleaving, cleaning, and protection of fibers.
Label and route fiber in compliance with documentation and design standards.
Use advanced test equipment (OTDR, OLTS, power meters, visual fault locators) to certify and troubleshoot fiber links.
Perform end-to-end testing including insertion loss, return loss, and reflectance measurements.
Analyze OTDR traces to identify faults, splices, and connector losses.
Produce detailed test results, reports, and documentation for client acceptance and compliance verification.
Diagnose and repair faults in fiber optic networks, including complex and escalated issues.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Respond to service outages and perform emergency repairs with minimal disruption to live traffic.
Execute high-count and ribbon fiber splicing projects, including mass fusion splicing.
Manage fiber assignments, routing, and labeling in large-scale installations.
Support fiber network expansion, migration, and reconfiguration projects with minimal service interruption.
Maintain detailed records of splicing, testing, and repair activities.
Ensure all work complies with industry standards (e.g. ITU-T, FOA, BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC), safety regulations, and company policies.
Participate in quality audits and ensure compliance with both company and client operational standards.
Support as-built documentation, change control, and test result archiving.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Minimum 3-5 years' hands-on experience in fiber optic splicing, testing, and installation (Tier 2 or Tier 3 level).
Deep understanding of optical fiber theory, attenuation, dispersion, and signal integrity.
Proficiency with high-precision fusion splicers (e.g., Fujikura, Sumitomo, or INNO).
Skilled in interpreting fiber network design drawings, splice schematics, and optical budgets.
Experience working with both inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) environments.
Advanced use of OTDRs, light source/power meters, visual inspection scopes, and fiber identifiers.
Ability to interpret and troubleshoot complex OTDR traces and reflectometry data.
Knowledge of fiber characterization testing, DWDM/CWDM network considerations, and loss budgets.
Comfortable working within data center environments, including hot/cold aisles and structured cabling systems.
Understanding of cable management best practices, rack layouts, and physical infrastructure documentation.
Experience working in live network environments with strict uptime SLAs.
In-depth knowledge of safety standards for fiber optic work, including laser safety and confined space awareness.
Familiarity with environmental and electrical regulations (OSHA, NEC, and local standards).
Consistent track record of adhering to quality assurance processes and precision workmanship.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients.
Demonstrated leadership in mentoring junior technicians or overseeing small project teams.
Excellent time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities under tight deadlines.
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently in remote or field conditions.
Proficiency with digital documentation tools, fiber management software, and reporting systems.
