SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Mental Health Professional (MHP) provides services for individuals and their families in the home, school, and community, which are designed to, (1) ensure safety and stability of the child to promote successful functioning in the home, school and community; (2) avert treatment in a residential or inpatient setting; (3) facilitate an earlier return of individuals receiving inpatient or residential care; (4) strengthen family functioning; and (5) assist students in achieving optimal benefits from their education. Basic Education Requirements: Applicants must possess a high school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent AND one of the following minimum education requirements, which have been established within the parameters described by the Federal Government's No Child Left Behind Act of 2001:
* 48 semester credits, baccalaureate level courses, from an accredited institution of higher education recognized by the Hawaii Department of Education. The forty-eight (48) credits may be from various programs or academic subject areas. In addition, of the 48 credits from baccalaureate level courses, 3 must have been for math and 3 for English courses.

Technical Experience: Progressively responsible work experience comparable to that of the class, Behavioral Technician I. This experience must have included providing one-to-one behavioral intervention services by using appropriate behavior management practices and techniques in accordance with intervention/assessment plans to students exhibiting severe behavior. This experience must have involved the performance of the following core task skills: measurement, assessment, skill acquisition, behavior reduction, documentation and reporting, and professional conduct and scope of practice.
Comparable work is of equivalent difficulty and responsibility that provided the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities found in the referenced class.
Allowed Substitution of Education for Experience:
* Successful completion of coursework in a curriculum leading to an AA or AS degree from an accredited community college may be substituted for General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester credits for one-half (1/2) year of experience.

Develop Home Health Aide (HHA) and Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) care plans. Delegates duties to HHA's and PTAs (Physical Therapy Assistant) based on agency and regulatory policies. Supervises and provides input to HHA's and PTAs per agency policy.
Assumes responsibility for case management of assigned patients. Consults with appropriate community and internal resources and makes appropriate interdisciplinary referrals.
Performs patient care duties and/or treatments based on specific needs, including medical condition, age, and/or developmental status.
Requirements:
Master's Degree or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy
Have successfully completed and graduated from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by NBCOT and have completed all fieldwork requirements
Current medical/health screening including 2 step TB clearance.
Valid State of Hawaii license to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
Current Basic Life Support CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification through the American Heart Association
Two years of experience as an physical therapist, preferably in home health or other healthcare practice setting.
