BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists students with the program and extended school day activities to reinforce learning concepts.

Assists with arrival and departure (i.e..., loading and unloading children from parked buses, check- in, check-out).

Assists the staff in developing educational materials (copying, typing, laminating, etc.).

Complies with applicable District policies and procedures, state, local and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, and community. Attends work regularly and is punctual.
Attends in-services, training, and staff meetings as required.

* All summer faculty and staff are required to attend an in person orientation and set -up day on June 18th, 2026 from 8 AM - 4 PM outside of extenuating life circumstances.
* There is an expectation of approximately 3 hours of after care hours prep work per camp week between June 1st and June 16th. This prep work will be paid on the payroll that is paid out on July 1st.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* 1-2 years of collaborative experience supervising children, youth, and/or teens in a childcare, enrichment, and/or educational setting.
* Experience working in an early childhood educational setting
* Strong background in current social emotional learning practices
* Current First Aid and CPR training

The Special Education Assistant II position provides educational and classroom assistance under the guidance of teachers, principals, vice principals and other supervisors, and assists in carrying out instructional activities, promoting student safety and well-being, and reinforcing classroom programs. The position has specific responsibility for assisting with the supervision and instruction of special needs students, observing and documenting student progress, implementing plans for instruction and assisting students with special health needs. Duties are performed under risk of infection and injury and require work with students having intense learning, developmental and behavioral needs.

* With training, implements district and program-adopted crisis prevention/intervention strategies including the use of de-escalating procedures, physical interventions to avoid injuries and other safety protocols. Employee must pass physical restraint training in order to maintain employment.
* Assists teachers and specialists in the testing and assessment of student skills. Records and maintains accurate developmental data on student performance.
* Provides student safety, self-care, health care, medical protocols, hygiene care, and mobility assistance services which may include lifting, feeding, and toileting/diapering.
* Maintains positive communication with school personnel, community agencies, and parents/guardians under the direction of teachers and specialists.
* Implements prescribed physical therapy/medical assistance and support duties as directed and delegated by a health care professional.
* Attends District workshops and staff development classes to remain current on behavioral, medical and data collection procedures.
* Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all district policies and procedures.
