The position exists to provide ultrasound examinations for patients of all ages. Ultrasonographers provide patient care services using ultrasound imaging modalities. This includes assessing patient condition, operating ultrasound equipment, proficiency in PACS, preparing examination rooms, and maintaining equipment, supplies and medications. Ultrasonographers are also required to maintain necessary patient records and participate in the departmental Performance Improvement program. Ultrasonographers also function as clinical instructors for students enrolled in the Radiologic Technology and ultrasound programs. Night and weekend call is required.
Obtains patient data before procedure-history, DOB, age, history.
Usually explains procedure to be performed; facilitates patient's cooperation and alleviates anxiety.
Transfers patient to exam table and ensures proper covering of patient according to policy and procedure.
Arranges, attaches, or adjusts immobilization and support devices according to procedure, ensuring limitation of patient movement.
Assesses patient's condition & determines proper breathing instructions (utilizing it properly), exposure factors.
Performs related duties as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as on-site leadership in absence of center manager, helping to manage center activities
Operate mammographic and other imaging equipment/devices in accordance with organizational protocols
Position patients, using immobilization when necessary
Evaluate radiographs for image quality, adjusting position, density, or contrast and obtaining additional images as needed
Evaluate and present images to radiologists and perform additional post presentation images and/or diagnostic procedures, including ultrasound, core biopsy, and needle localization
Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness and adequate stock/inventory of clinical supplies

Must speak English fluently. Exposure to communicable diseases.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Current license Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer required with a specialty in OB-GYN. 2 years' experience in OB-GYN required. Competency in Nuchal Translucency and Nasal Bone Imaging may be required based on department.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for using diagnostic medical equipment to diagnose various medical conditions. Sonography, or ultrasonography, is the use of sound waves to generate an image for assessment and diagnosis. Obtains prior authorizations on scans as needed.
Administers IV contrast agents.
Explains procedure to patient and records any medical history that may be relevant to the condition being viewed. Directs the patient to move into positions that will provide the best view.
Spreads gel on the skin to aid the transmission of sound waves.
Operates special equipment to direct nonionizing, high-frequency sound waves into areas of the patient's body. The equipment collects reflected echoes and forms an image that may be videotaped, transmitted, or photographed for interpretation and diagnosis by a physician.
Views the screen during the scan, looking for visual cues that contrast healthy areas with unhealthy ones. Selects images to show to the physician for diagnostic purposes.
Takes measurements, calculates values, and analyzes the results in preliminary reports for the physicians.
Keeps patient records and adjusts/maintains equipment.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Complies with safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies/procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma. Associate or bachelor's degree in sonography from accredited school.

Ultrasound technologist job in Charlotte, NC
We are seeking a full-time Breast UltrasoundTechnologist or a Diagnostic Mammography Technologist III for this office. The Breast UltrasoundTechnologist performs high-quality breast ultrasound exams and assists with breast ultrasound procedures in compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards. This role works collaboratively with radiologists to assist in the evaluation and diagnosis of breast tissue abnormalities while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Shift Details: M - Th / 7a - 6p
$10k sign on bonus and relocation assistance available
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates ultrasound equipment in accordance with organizational protocols
Position patients, using immobilization when necessary
Evaluate and present images to radiologists
Assist Radiologist with ultrasound procedures
Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness
Monitor supplies and stock room as needed
Obtain, verify, and document all pertinent information for patient visits and procedures, including patient clinical history, prior imaging, orders, and consents
Identify care requirements relative to each patient's age-specific needs
Explain exams and procedures to patients
Provide post procedural care information and follow up instructions as directed by radiologists
Assist with onboarding and training new Diagnostic Mammography Technologists in ultrasound
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Licensing/Certification:
Associate degree
ARDMS
BLS
Experience (years and type):
1-3 years' experience in Ultrasound
Knowledge and Skills:
Must be able to perform procedures in accordance to the CR departmental protocols and standards
Must be up to date with local and federal regulations that apply to their licensure and role
Must be able to review the patient history for any pertinent information
Must be able to communicate with the radiologist or referring MD if a protocol needs to be obtained or a test needs to be altered
Must be able to report malfunctioning equipment to the Ultrasound engineer
Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs.
Must have positive communication skills
Ability to adapt to new and various situations and procedures according to patient capability
Must be able to differentiate artifacts from anatomical or pathological structures and recognize any imaging abnormalities
Travel Required (% of time):
0-25%
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Full day of walking and standing
Lifting more than 50 lbs.
Full-time work with varying hours. Weekend if needed to meet the department's needs.
Must be able to work with bio-hazardous materials
