To learn more, visit ************* Position Summary The Associate Shelter Veterinarian plays a vital role in overseeing the health and medical care of the GBHS shelter population, including operations within the Critical Care and Spay/Neuter Clinic, under the leadership of the Chief Medical Officer. The Associate Veterinarian supports a comprehensive shelter medicine program, including high-volume spay/neuter services, a trap-neuter-return (TNR) program, community outreach initiatives, and an externship program that trains fourth-year veterinary students in soft tissue surgical skills. The Animal Care Specialist will be responsible for providing and ensuring proper care to dogs, cats, and other animals at the shelter. PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS Reports to Shelter Management and serves as a member of the animal care team. Interacts daily with veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians, foster coordinator, transport coordinator, volunteers, the general public, and potential adopters. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performs cleaning details as directed by immediate supervisor and animal welfare standards Responsible for feeding, cleaning, and the treatment of animals including but not limited to walking, bathing, exercise, and behavior.
