Summary:
Our registered technicians have comprehensive skill sets and are capable of moving seamlessly throughout the hospital. Experience in the field is required for this position. RVTs assist the veterinarian with office visits and all associated tasks while communicating with clients using their extensive knowledge of vaccine protocols, preventatives, and excellent history taking skills. They are able to manage their time efficiently and possess good problem-solving skills.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Provide compassionate care for pets and their people
Be knowledgeable in areas of vaccines, recommended laboratory testing, sample collection, and able to follow instructions on specialty lab testing including, but not limited to, ACTH stim, bile acids, and LDDST
Safely and effectively restrain pets for team members
Dispense medication as ordered and assist in our pharmacy

Take radiographs and perform EKGs
Admit and discharge patients on the doctor's orders. Educate clients on various aspects of animal care; explain dosage/purpose of medications; reinforce the proper care and procedures that should be followed at home; make follow-up calls to clients
Understand usage and dosage for commonly used prescription drugs including heartworm preventative and prescription flea control products and can readily explain them to clients
Properly clean all surgical materials after they are used; keep the operating room stocked and prepared for surgery
Maintain an appropriate inventory of all drugs and medical supplies
Prepare estimates for clients
Assist other staff members as required
Perform other duties as determined by the doctors
