DIV. 168, Houston, TX Assist Lead Installers and/or Foreman or Field Supervisors with installation and service of fire detection and alarm systems, security and access control systems, and other life safety systems in new and existing buildings in all types of construction, using conduit, hangers, wires, alarm devices, and panels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Assist with installation of components that make up the low voltage systems such as smoke detectors, pull stations, video cameras, door contacts, etc.
* Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, floors, etc.
* Feed or pull cables through access holes, roof spaces, wall cavities, conduit, j-hooks, bridle rings, etc.
* Check wiring, install raceway, equipment and special boxes, and assist with final connections and testing.
* Mount and fasten control panels; adjust the sensitivity of devices or set addresses of devices.
* Test and repair circuits and sensors by following wiring and system specifications.
* Test batteries, keypad and annunciator programming, notification appliances, and security features in order to ensure proper functioning.
* Establish and maintain good working relationships between co-workers, customers, and suppliers.
Additional Requirements:
Pre-employment drug screen; overtime may be required.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-2 years of construction related experience preferred. Basic installation experience or education/training with alarm or security systems or other electrical systems.

Perform service and repairs on fire sprinkler systems.
Complete service acknowledgements electronically via ServiceTrade.
Provide detailed comments in ServiceTrade of the service/repairs you made and take pictures before and after.
Installation of new, retrofits, and tenant improvement type projects
Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other field installers and helpers
Read and interpret blueprints, in order to install prefabricated fire sprinkler piping.
Cut, thread, and groove pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws and pipe threaders.
Requirements
At least four (4) years experience in field installation of fire sprinkler systems.
Working knowledge of wet, dry, and pre-action systems as well as backflow and fire pumps
Experience with installation of underground piping preferred but not required.
Proficient in NFPA 13, 20 & 24 code requirements.
Ability to read fire system design drawings
Ability to use trade appropriate tools to perform daily pipe fitting duties efficiently and safety
Ability to train others to use trade appropriate tools efficiently and safely.
Knowledge of the fire protection industry
Knowledge of OSHA safety standard.

Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with NFPA standards and applicable local codes.
Diagnose system issues, identify malfunctions, and complete timely and accurate repairs.
Program, configure, and verify fire alarm control panels and related devices.
Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation, and compliance forms.
Maintain accurate records of system work, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
Communicate effectively with customers regarding system status, required repairs, and code compliance.
Coordinate with project managers, service coordinators, and inspectors as needed.
Ensure company tools, test equipment, and service vehicles are properly maintained.
Follow all safety policies, procedures, and job site regulations.
Stay current with industry codes, technologies, and certification requirements.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred; minimum of 3-5 years of experience servicing fire alarm or life safety systems preferred; NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred or required based on state; strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire codes.
Computer Skills
Proficiency with fire alarm panels, devices, and testing equipment; ability to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications; familiarity with system manufacturers such as Notifier or equivalent preferred.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms, and/or climb a ladder; working with tools off scaffolds, ladders, and aerial lifts at heights potentially in excess of 100 ft; working in confined spaces; and working in adverse weather conditions; frequently required to talk or hear. Responsible for laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping and piping systems, fixtures, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Installation of pipe fittings, hangers, couplings, and sprinklers per design plan and codes to properly protect building.
Completion of all required weekly paperwork for CFP and as directed by the General Contractor for the job to which crew is assigned.
Communicating with designer before making any design changes.
Communicates with designer regarding any material shortages.
Producing red-line drawings to turn in to designer.
Communicating project and schedule changes to Field Superintendent and Project Manager.
Attending project and coordination meetings as required.
Completion and submission of daily progress reports to Field Superintendent and General Contactor as required.
Documenting and reporting water damage, injuries, and/or accidents to Field Superintendent and General Manager immediately when an incident occurs.
Train Fitters and Helpers on proper installation techniques.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 3-5 years related experience and/or training.
