What you'll do:

Licensed Professional Engineer in MA required (or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months)
Experience with AutoCAD (Civil 3D a plus) and Bentley MicroStation (InRoads/OpenRoads a plus).
Experience in the use of the relevant DOT Engineering Design Manual and AASHTO Green Book.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and organization and time management skills are also required.
The ability to self-start is important.

What You'll Be Doing
As a valuable part of our Water tean, a Construction Observer will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:
Lead on-site observation for complex water infrastructure construction including water main installations, pump stations, water treatment facilities, and storage tanks.
Produce thorough and technically sound daily field reports. Document site conditions, material certifications, testing results, contractor staffing, and schedule adherence.
Perform advanced review of construction work for adherence to plans, specifications, and contract documents. Identify deviations and assist in implementing corrective measures.
Act as the primary field liaison to municipal clients, utilities, and contractors. Represent the firm at construction meetings and inspections.
Provide mentorship and oversight to junior observers and coordinate field assignments. Ensure consistent application of field standards and protocols.
Assist project engineers in reviewing submittals, RFIs, and change orders. Support pay requisition validation through precise quantity tracking.
Monitor conformance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and permit conditions. Provide leadership on safety reporting and incident prevention.
What You'll Need
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
8-20 years of field experience in construction observation, with a strong emphasis on municipal water projects
Deep knowledge of water utility construction practices, materials, and standards (AWWA, ASTM, etc.)
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and schedules
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with clients, contractors, and internal teams
Strong documentation and reporting skills; experience using construction management software (e.g., Procore, Fieldwire, e-Builder)
OSHA 30-Hour Certification required
NICET Certification or equivalent preferred
Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to project sites.
Preferred Requirements
Demonstrated ability to handle complex field issues independently and provide practical, field-based solutions
Experience working under public procurement and prevailing wage requirements
Background in QA/QC procedures, construction cost estimating, or claims evaluation is a plus

The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of program and project related tasks for both government and private clients. These projects will include multimedia sampling, interpretation of data and designing integrated active and institutional remediation programs. Take a leadership role to plan and implement sampling programs with appropriate direct measurement and remote sensing techniques for multi-media environmental evaluation, including surface and subsurface soil, overburden and bedrock groundwater, sediment, surface water, ambient air, indoor air, and soil vapor.
Conduct hydraulic conductivity testing on environmental test wells, assimilate data, and conduct basic groundwater modeling to predict groundwater flow paths and velocities.
Develop sampling and analysis plans under various regulatory structures;
Coordinate and manage field staff and subcontractors during data gathering and other site operations ensuring data is accurate and suitable for the planned use;
Assimilate field data into creative and coherent products for presentation and publication;
Prepare technical environmental reports;
Provide data interpretation and mapping of analytical results, evaluating and establishing patterns and trends exhibited by such data for determination of impacts to human health and the environment.
Work to develop business through building and maintaining excellent working relationships with client contacts and other project professionals, and by seeking new project opportunities that are in line with Tetra Tech's goals.

Our Environmental Services team, composed of experienced professionals, provides comprehensive environmental permitting, planning, and compliance monitoring services across a range of projects. Our technical experts specialize in freshwater and coastal wetland delineations, environmental impact assessments, and wildlife and fishery habitat evaluations. What You'll Be Doing
As a valuable part of our Wetlands and Ecology, a Project Environmental Scientist will lead and support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:
Perform a combination of field work, technical report preparation, and studies
Perform natural resource surveys including wetland delineations and functional assessments, wildlife habitat evaluations and rare species surveys, including soil characterization and plant species identification

What You'll Need
At least 5 years of experience working in environmental consulting or a similar field

Technical writing and presentation skills
You should like being outside, and have the willingness to work in physically challenging outdoor situations in all types of weather and traveling on an as-needed basis to project sites
Demonstrated experience with federal and state laws such as the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and Regulations, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and other state/local agencies
Experience in a range of activities such as biological and wetland surveys; federal, state and local wetland regulations; Endangered Species Act compliance; and Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permitting
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and your own transportation
Preferred Requirements
Experience with conducting wetland delineations
